I recently purchased the ESEE 5 and have used the ESEE 3 and 4 extensively in the field. I sold my well used ESEE 4 in the hopes of finding a replacement, and quite frankly, I miss the 4. The only thing I do not miss is the handle length. Suggestions for handle scales for the 4 that are canvas micarta which will fill the hand?
TKC sells extended scales. I love the Izula ones but have not handled any others. You can get the blade only then choose your scales and sheath... https://theknifeconnection.com/esee-4-extended/
I bought the TKC extended handles for my ESEE 4 and Junglas II when they came out. They make a huge difference. My 4 is now my most used fixed blade knife.
Beat me to it! ive had the extended TKC’s on one the 3’s I used to have and they made a great knife a lot better for my big paws. In the end I just used my laserstrikes a lot more.
When I look at the shape of it, it bothers me to no end for some reason. Otherwise, the perfect knife. I've requested in the forum for basically the laser strike in the shape of the 4 or 5. This would become my go to knife for almost everything.
I get it, it’s pretty fugly up front as far as esthetics go. But after using one for a brief time, especially with the contoured scales that fugly becomes beautiful the same as Browning Auto-5’s, AR’s, AK’s and Glocks. I’ve never owned a 4, but I’ve had a couple 3’s, a 6 and still have a 5 that sits as a fireplace tool. The rest weren’t really getting used as much so I sold them and picked up a second LS from TKC using their knife builder app and went with their G10 scales. I wanted one for hard use at work and in the woods where I didn’t wanna chance anything happening to the modded one I was gifted.
