    (this was a very old thread I made in other forum)

    I always make a reflection about Jack Reacher EDC IN A REAL WORLD.
    With the new series premiered I was thinking about it again. And my conclusion that is very very unlikely to travel only with cash, ATM card, expired passport and a toothbrush.
    Should be considered first of all hygiene and health questions.

    Thinking about it I choose a very light pack with:

    1)Clothes (not winter or cold autumn):
    a) 2 pieces of underwear;
    b) 2 pairs of socks;
    c) 1 extra shirt OR t-shirt;
    d) 1 shorts;(optional)

    2) Hygiene and Medics:
    a) Toothbrush (mentioned in the beginning);
    b) Dental Floss;
    c) Toothpaste;
    d) 2-3 bars of little Hotel/Motel soap;
    e) Eye Drops; (optional)
    f) Ibuprofen; (optional)
    g) Some kind of anti alergic tablets;(optional)
    h) 5oz Philips Milk of Magnesia (could be used for deodorant AND digestion problems)

    3) Other stuff:
    a) Handkerchief or bandana;
    b) Cheap wristwatch; (optional)
    c) Some kind of AAA pen light (Pelican or Streamlight - optional);
    d) A SAK - Super Tinker or something smaller like a Small Tinker - but I think the scissors are necessary for hygiene stuff too like trimming your nails;

    What do you think?

    And how about to carry this stuff?

    I’m waiting to start that series just haven’t had time.

    Makes me think of my travel carry on that I put together for trips.
    1 jacket with a hood depends on final destination temps which one I take
    1 long sleeve shirt
    1 short sleeve shirt
    1 extra long pants
    1 extra pair socks
    1 extra pair underwear

    1 little fak: small bottle of Tylenol, Benadryl, and Robitussin gel caps. 2 in gauze roll, tape and a 3 inch ace wrap, nail clippers, individual packs of wet wipes.
    Toothbrush and deodorant.
    1 headlamp with an extra set of batteries
    Phone
    Charger
    1 book (sometimes a Reacher book)
    A pound or so of trail mix-landed a few times when restaurants were closed.
    Yeti water bottle

    all gets put in a medium sized North Face Base Camp duffle with a lot of room to spare.

    I normally keep a Leatherman in the send through bag so If I was hitching rides or walking that would go too

    I’ll play.

    Honestly, I’d probably bring along what is usually in my carry on bag.

    -a light jacket
    -spare t-shirt
    -change of socks
    -change of underwear
    -pair of running shorts
    -toothbrush + paste
    -comb (as I have long but not so beautiful hair :D)
    -deodorant
    -small med kit (pain killers, bandages, tweezers, etc)
    -Tourniquet and a roll of gauze
    -battery pack and applicable cables
    -a couple writing implements
    -a note book
    -mid size flashlight and a rechargeable battery and cable
    -two nalgenes
    -a couple Cliff Bars (or similar)
    -a handkerchief
    -a door stop

    That’s about it for the fly pack. I’ll add some slightly different stuff in location dependent, and if I’m driving it changes slightly. I’ll have other small items on my person as well. But that’s my JR travel around kit.

    …..if you are staying in a crappy motel a wood or rubber door stop on the inside will slow down unwanted guests about 1000x better than any chain or bar lock.

    Andy nailed it. I’ve seen folks use eye screws as well, twisted in between the door and the door jamb (top and hinge side.) Would have to add some white and brown sharpies to the pack in that case though. ;)

    Edit to add: eyebolt will take longer to remove if you gotta scoot out of a room quick (fire or what have you), rubber door stop is less secure, but easier to remove with no clean up.
