so had the good fortunate to come across a Springfield National Match for a good deal.

took it out today for its first run. Although familiar with running irons I’ve never shot an M1A.

took 20 rounds offhand at 100yds to make sure I was on paper then loaded up some 175gr Sierra Matchkings and dialed in a hold off my ballistic calculator for 300 yards. Prone off a bag.

certainly not winning any competitions but I have to say this looks promising

I've had this Springfield M-21 for a long time. Don't shoot it often. But I'd regularly get 1" groups at 100 yds. 3/4" on a good day. I think my best group was 1/2" with Federal Gold Medal Match 175 grn I believe.

Definitely on my bucket list. I almost bought one a few years back, but got a good deal on Ruger SR762 and never looked back. In the future, though, definitely want to pick one of these up.

I've wanted one of these for many many years, just never made it a reality.
