Took the 4 on a short hike today. What a great blade. And I'm more than happy with the retention of my ugly wet formed, partly burned in the oven sheath - better than kydex!
Made a new set of scales for mine yesterday. African ebony. They're far from perfect, but I like the fuller grip and covered lanyard hole. E4 by Warxuaroz posted Jul 3, 2021 at 6:11 PM
Working on the 4 rig. The sheath accommodates the 5/6 pouch well. I just had to squeeze it in a little bit. Need some ideas for an etch on it though. I could do Harley davidson again but eh. I'll probably order a set of the orange tkc extended scales and do one black and one orange on it. Waiting on a black carbon fiber kydex ferro rod holder and more orange aluminum washers to finish it. Also need ideas for a small AAA flashlight to mount to it, a good brand and that can have a clip attached. I was looking at the fenix e01 but there's no clip to fit it that I've found. Prefer two modes also so I can i use low to conserve battery and most be black or orange. Only the best for this setup.
Hey Drew, great work (as always!). Here's a pic of an Olight i3T EOS next to my 4 to give you an idea of its size. It runs on a AAA and this one has been in my bleed stop kit for a few years now. It has 2 modes with a simple tail cap button operation. These guys make tough little lights. I've carried Olights in my pocket daily for years and mine have all been bright and dependable. I also love the Streamlight Micro Stream. They make a AAA version and a USB rechargable version. It has two modes and a push button design as well. But I can't take a picture of one because I lost mine. Every time I turned around I was pushing it back down into my pocket and after losing two I shopped for a different light. They literally walked out of my pockets. Probably wouldn't be a problem with a molded kydex loop though. Both of these suggestions have clips that will attach to the brim of a ball cap for hands free operation. You can find either on Amazon for around $20. Good luck with your search.
Thank ya. Yeah that's a good size for my setup. I looked at the microstream but it's only 45 Lumens and one mode. Sorry you lost yours. I hate when that happens. I'm thinking of ordering some orange kydex and make a loop for it unless I can get some scrap somewhere. BTW, your blade looks great!
I keep one of the USB rechargeable Microstreams under the sun visor of my truck. Great little light for the $s.
Yes and no. I leave the charge cable in my centre console and have a USB port there for it. In the car it is the convenience of the size and having at hand that I like. There are always AT LEAST three other lights available that are battery (AA or AAA eneloop powered) there as well.
Gotcha. I have two rechargeable ones but on one the battery has the micro USB charge port so I can use a standard AA. I think the other might use two cr123's but I'd have to look it up.
I have the same olight, only the coyote tan version. They're absolutely amazing and powerful little lights. I've carried mine edc for almost a year now with no issues other than replacing the one AAA battery when needed. Great little torches.
How do the NiMh batteries handle the heat in the car during summer? This has always kept me from leaving a flashlight in the car.
.... I do not leave them in direct sunlight (so low in the deep centre console or in a bag or pack). I have not had an issue yet at all (hoping I didn't just jinx myself)...
