I bought a portable Rug Doctor for cheap knowing that it didn’t spray anymore. I took the handle apart and noticed the red wires broke off the switch.

Im hoping someone might know which wire goes to which spot on the switch?

If it's just a simple on/off switch then it's not going to matter which wire goes on which switch position. A switch simply opens a circuit.

It runs that little motor for the actual sprayer does that change anything?

The wires as shown in your pic are in the off position :)

Do you have a volt meter to chase down the leads?

Depending on how adventurous you are feeling I would plug it in and start touching wires where they look like they are supposed to go... You could also kill yourself that way. So do take that into consideration.

Is the spiral grey plastic thing supposed to be attached anywhere? Or is it broken off too?

The spiral grey thing is the piece where the water sprays out. It’s not broken everything just needs to be put back in it’s place after I fix the wires.

After looking at the picture again, I would touch those two wires together and see it it worked. Please don't electrocute yourself if you try that.

If it worked I would wire in a switch between those two red wires and go to town. Assuming you can solder and do all the things to make a proper connection.

You could always rent one, take it apart and see how. What's the model also?

According to my boss.. He said he's worked on a few of these and this is a common occurrence on the older models. 37DAC35E-A3B7-4F02-87AE-467451754B12.jpeg

Just put a red wire on either side and put the other red wire on the other side. It’s a simple on off switch. You can’t wire it backwards
