Some days I just have the need for speed. Going to try to hammer a thunder chicken this spring with this guy.
Member of the Salinas Bowmen Club. A 27 acre Members Only range. Practice range. Broadhead range. A beautiful hike thru the Oak trees with 28 target areas and an additional trail with 20 something 3D targets. Had my newest Deadwood longbow out for the first time. Made specifically for 3D tournaments and such. 43lbs @30.5 which is my draw length. Burnt bamboo limbs. Brown dynawood and birds eye maple center. Bobcat fur on the string. One pic was just four arrows from 20 yards. I'm liking this bow! Another pic shows why I keep my TM HUNT Hornet on my quiver strap. It's perfect for cutting loose those arrows that don't do as told.
Sexy compound bow!!! I love my Hoyt Tenacity, it's lasted me a long time and still looks like the day I bought it in the summer of '97 even though its shot hundreds of arrows in 3-D comps in 3 states and been carried on hunts in 3 states in that time. All I've ever had to change was strings and cables. Very well made products and when I get a modern compound it'll be another Hoyt.
This is something that I would like to get back into at some point. After being smoked by a forum member's teenage daughter, I have been a bit hesitant.
Had my bow checked yesterday and turned up to 75# draw. Got my arrows refletched. Now shooting 4 fletch AAE Hybrid 23’s with a hard left helical. Getting it dialed in. 40, 50, and 60yds. Was getting pretty tired after 15 groups so the 60 I pulled one low but I’ll take parking 2 next to each other at that distance outdoors with a hunting setup.
Took out the bow after time off for a few years and wanted three good hits. Got two and sent one flying down the driveway. Maybe tomorrow.
@Mountainmistwanderer Picked these up today The bottom one is the Old Mountain Archery Edge. From what I understand that it is basically the Samick Sage. The top one is the Damon Howatt 62” The store I got these from was the store I was saying had a big change in owners and bow types. This guy had a back room the size of a 1 car garage 1/2 stacked with bows of all kinds from the previous owner. He probably had 40 plus recurves of all shapes/ sizes/ conditions in piles and found this one. With a new string was out the door for $50 cash for the Damon Howatt. The pictures don’t do it justice.
I found a way to make a new 20 yard Archery range at the house! Was already in the process of bush clearing and found a way to position it just right. Decent backstop of about 75 degrees vertical. And added bonus 2x pine trees to square the targets on. I left short branch stubs maybe 2 inches long, that I can use to hang targets, a back drop etc from the trees. This is around the 10 yard line.
My Hunting bow meet a unfortunate end a few days ago.. (Tip stuck in a closing door..) So I ordered a new 71 inch 35-40 pound Hickory longbow. Stock photo below I don’t think do it justice. With up to 6 deer I can hunt this year.. I think it will be well worth it!
