New kydex from azwelke.com for my Becker BK7 Fantastic work, fits like a glove, a very solid piece. It really brightens my day!
Nice BK7! I had one for a few years and did quite a lot of customizing to it, but I really regret for setting the factory micarta on it - it made a rather neutral balanced knife completely handle heavy and just made it worthless for me. I also had red liners under it + 2 custom sheats for it - one leather and one kydex. It had the ramp and pommel ground away. It was a good slicer but to be honest, for me the Esee 6 is a much, much usable blade. Also had a BK2 for a while, but it was used mostly for batoning. I had an Eskabar too which I also ruined with heavy G10 scales, unfortunately permanently epoxied and riveted. It was a great little knife before that. One thing I liked about the Beckers was the steel, it seemed a bit harder than the Esee, but still very flexible.
I have had a Brute for about 15 years , maybe longer. It has cleaned one deer, some fish and a few squirrels (just to see if it could), processed lots of wood and driven in wood and plastic tent stakes.
The Brute is such an awesome design and I would most definitely buy it if it ever returns as a regular production model at regular price.
Ethan has said many times that the Brute will never make a comeback. The BK9 outdoes it all day long. The Brute is an inferior design, imho. That said, I have one that's been reprofiled, and it is fun to use.
The BK9 is nice for sure, I wish I got one a few years back when they were a lot cheaper here. With the current price a Junglas would make a lot more sense to me, as it would already have kydex and great handles.
Upgraded my BK7 with some nice micarta handles. Took me a while to take the plunge because these are crazy expensive on this side of the pond. Looks sexy and nothing beats the feeling of micarta handles. Can't wait to bring these out into the woods soon.
How do you like them? On mine the balance was ruined (too handle heavy) which was the reason for selling the knife later. They were very expensive 6-7 years ago, I don't want to know how much more they cost now
First impression: LOVE 'm But haven't put them to use. I'm nit too picky on the balence so not too worried about that. The color is nice too imho.
I've got the micarta scales on my '10. They'd probably be a better fit on the 7 or 9, but that's how it came (traded Psyop for it). The 7 is an interesting beast. The first one I held was the fabled Frankenbecker that we were mailing in a circle, modding as we went. Unfortunately it was lost in the mail eventually. I didn't really like it. Big, clumsy, etc. FF to picking one up a few years later, and I'm more comfortable with bigger knives. I de-ramped ("wayned") and choiled it after another 'head's mod and now think it's pretty darn cool. With forward-heavy knives I like to be able to choke up closer to the balance point, and usually halfway around the front of the scales. Nice and secure for precision stuff.
One of my favorite choppers to beat the crap out of. Replaced the scales with g10 from The Knife Connection. Definitely made the knife feel abit more higher quality. Although expensive I probably wouldn't buy them again. I put a bike tube on my bk2 handle and that works perfectly fine
I have two Camillus made Beckers from back in the early 2000's that were sold as factory seconds. I have never found anything wrong with them? It's a shame that factory isn't making knives nowadays. I've had many knives from other brands that had lower standards. BK7 by anomad posted Jul 23, 2021 at 9:00 PM
