I haven’t had it for that long, and I’m still pretty rubbish at it (getting better though). But yeah, that’s the end goal.

when I was a no shirt grasshopper on the farm we hunted cottontails with old railroad spikes. Didn’t matter how it hit them it would knock them down, then you’d run up and finish them with a knife or sharpened pole (spear). It sounds brutal but we harvested a lotta bunny’s like that.

We spent the last few days exploring Smoky Mountains NP and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Also drove a large part of the area in between.

Drove right by Camp Cruso/ Camp Hope so we stopped for some teaser photos :)

Hopefully some of the photos turned out when we make it home :)

Took one of my buddies out who wanted to learn some fire skills. He got his first bow drill fire, solar fire, and traditional flint and steel fire today. Bonus was we were able to get a tandem hand drill coal, and set him up with a good set so he can practice on his own. Good day! 70564414-72D2-42B1-BE8F-5D64A71A7377.jpeg F1862D98-DDDA-4FCB-94E3-BC0C5647B4C6.jpeg 62E463FE-28B5-4E94-9B87-B6363DF97D6B.jpeg 5473B60E-C916-437A-9387-4D875C359239.jpeg F9BDA953-FAB2-4FCF-A852-86FAAB815933.jpeg

It's been a beautiful day today, it stormed all day yesterday. I've been sitting on the front porch all day, playing with a new pipe and burning sticks in the wood stove.

Generally I try and hike four to five times a week. Often there is nothing exceptional during the time, just general fitness. This time around though I ran into this fella. Always a treat to see a Gila monster. 983EC7C4-F8B3-4491-A153-4D6523877555.jpeg A50E8B20-5705-4FE8-94B9-8C63A35F4F11.jpeg

I went hiking at New River Gorge, WV today. Did Glade Creek Trail. Just over 8 miles total.

The trail is an old railroad grade from the coal mining days.

Overnight. Had a friend who wanted to learn some stuff. So had him make a brush bed to pair with a wool blanket, and he was able to make friction fire for the first time. rangw day today. The 30-30 was not making me happy so I switched over to .22. At least i didn’t go broke shooting today. Posting up real life 50 yard target results for your entertainment. At least I can say I wasn’t using a rest for these.

Camp out with friends. They wanted to see if there little one could handle a full night camping out, so we hit up a campground with easy access. She did really well, and they will definitely be doing more campouts with the kids in the future. Besides that, was a relaxing stay in the woods. 2419FD02-3074-4A26-B4E5-B7CB3A3FE225.jpeg E9FDC375-2AA7-47D2-AD15-C56FA1302113.jpeg CDB9B2B0-4C3A-4624-A0B8-B7A32C1DAF15.jpeg

Back in the field today. Hunting/armed hiking. Nothing caught today. Saw a pig but ended up being a sow with piglets so she got a pass. Goats were to far today for an open sight 20-30. The area got hit hard yesterday with lots of people and quite a few animals taken out so everything looked skittish

Did a 18.3 mile loop on/around the tallest point in AZ. North side of the mountains were still pretty covered with snow (which made for really slow going). Overall a great day hike. 9DE6904E-9C08-421E-A096-A97AEBAF3749.jpeg 45D4652F-7200-438E-8F4B-8DF878830303.jpeg 442854C7-5768-4418-9841-35147FBEAE88.jpeg F5BFB730-5F69-479F-B497-E8F8BFF42595.jpeg 60F708C5-5717-46D9-868C-3ED1562020DC.jpeg 9547AEF1-6FE3-4051-98BF-95CC713B14E2.jpeg 40C5B0C7-863C-4608-8F49-468E40BC2619.jpeg 858B616E-814A-46AD-BA85-050BA8EB3063.jpeg

I hiked the Table Rock Trail in the Canaan Valley Backcountry. Due to the rain and fog, there were no views of the Blackwater Canyon. Plus the trail was flooded in spots.
