So I've had this for about a week now and have been carrying it (edc) I do really like this thing. I also do carry a box cutter and a backup. I do want to leave everything at home and only carry my Izula. My question is does anyone cut cardboard boxes on a daily with this knife and if you do how often do you sharp you knife? I guess I'll take whatever feed back you guys have.

I don't cut much actual cardboard so I can't say. 1095 is pretty easy to sharpen so there's that.

You might want to look at the stainless Izula or the Xancudo in S35VN. It has better edge retention.

I was looking at the Xancudo. That maybe the way to go. Though I've got to recover just a bit before buying something else

I can’t speak towards the Izula, but I EDCed an ESEE 3 while working in a shop for about 4 years. I was cutting cardboard, tubing, stripping wires, loom, and what have you. I probably touched it up every 4 days or so. Never a full resharpen, but enough to get a really good edge back on it. As stated though, 1095 sharpens quick.

Start using it and let us know! :D

If nothing else you'll get done extra practice on your sharpening skills...

In all honesty, if you're using a 1095 Izula to cut a lot of cardboard you're probably going to need to touch it up quite a bit. The geometry and heat treat is just not there for extended use cutting cardboard. The S35V Xancudo would be a better choice for sure, even though I'm not a fan of S35V and would rather have a 1095 carbon steel knife for most work.

Thank you for the rec. I will be getting an Xancudo but for the time being I'll use my Izula. It not that much cardboard everyday so I think I'll be good for a little bit. I also carry the worksharp field sharpener with me.

I'm using everyday, after I'd say a good amount of cardboard I can see it struggle a bit. I have to touch it up a little about everyday.

I use my IZULA a lot, I EDC it some days, alternating it with my Xancudo. I sharpen mine a few times a week. I also use a leather strop.
