I let men soak in a penetrating oil for a month before I tried to pull it. That may help mate !

Do you think that WD40 would stand a chance?

Try soaking it over night in a baking soda solution, or white vinegar.

Thanks! I will try it. I think that the battery has expanded so much that it has stuck not only to the bottom but to the walls of the body too.

BTW, I hope you know I only meant soak the body, not the head with the electronics? I suspect either the baking soda or vinegar will do the trick.

Yeah, luckily the head screws off the body in this particular model and is completely undamaged.

I haven't tried it but I have read that vinegar does clean up the corrosion. The battery will probably still be stuck from the swelling though. I have used screws and even a corkscrew to remove batteries but I have had a few that I couldn't remove.

Just tried removing it with a corcscrew, after staying submerged in vinegar for 2 days, it's so swollen that it's not going anywhere.

I am waiting on a replacement body.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe timdgsr's suggestion of using a drill press?

I am pretty sure that a drill press or a hand drill with a really steady hand will do the trick.
I just got the replacement body and will keep the damaged one for experimenting with it.
