I quite like the look of this little knife. I'm not a hunter (might get there eventually), but it looks to me like a pretty ideal blade shape for just a good, general-purpose knife.

I kinda wish it was stainless. I like carbon steel in bigger hard-use knives (like my ESEE 6), but have sold or traded away most of my smaller carbon steel knives and replaced them with stainless (or at least semi-stainless) blades.

One thing I noticed is that TOPS started using more stainless steels in their small knives and hunting knives. Even though I'm not a 1095 hater, I think that's a pretty darn good idea. In the continuum of steel features (edge retention, corrosion resistance, and toughness), I personally feel like big knives and small knives live in different ideal corners.

1095 doesn't necessarily deter me but, in a small knife, it doesn't interest me as much.

Didn't mean to ramble but it appears I have. Essentially, I'm pretty excited about this "mystery steel" R&D that ESEE has been doing. Excited to see what the eventual result is and hoping that it eventually means more ideal steels for small vs big knives.

Got mine in today! Can’t wait to take it out next weekend and hopefully see what it can do with a whitetail!

was gifted one last weekend - a little surprised at how thin/flat the scales are.
once I'm used to it, if it still feels too thin, I'll add some cutting board liners & make a new sheath.

I really like the thinner scales. I have plenty of room and comfort for a variety of grips. I don’t have big hands though, so I could see why there could be concern. Looking at it now, the scales on my 4HM are twice as thick as the AGK!

It’s just a fabulous knife in the hand. Next to the RB3, it’s my favorite ESEE that I own. That being said, the handles/scales are completely different from each other. The AGK design is just amazing.

Super awesome to see an ESEE AGK photo bomb in the mountain goat Hill People Gear video. It is a great butchering knife.

    Decided to scallop the scales.

The scallops really put that knife over the top! That looks perfect.

Pre-covid, I stopped at SMKW to pick up an AGK but the didn't have one is stock.

    NEXT TIME!
