So the IRS is sending out prepaid debit cards to some Americans instead of a check, I may be one of those recipients. But from online research the prepaid debit cards are VISA's , I've received a "MasterCard" prepaid debit card and wondering if it's legit? Everything I've seen online says that the cards are VISA's, the card I received is supposedly issued from the same bank as the VISA's (Metabank) but I am suspicious. Anybody else gotten one of these cards?
I'm being serious here @JV3 I don't know if it's a scam or not can't get a live person on the phone to verify, and prompts want SS# and bank routing# .
I am unsure if the card has been sent to you why it would need bank routing details....maybe your SSN to register. I would be waiting and calling the IRS. Advice received on the internet is however most often worth exactly what you aid for it.
That's exactly why I asked if anyone else received a "MasterCard" instead of a "VISA" card. Supposedly the IRS sends out a verification letter 15 days after your EIP payment has been sent.
Maybe you can try calling Mastercard directly, give them the card number, and see what they can tell you about it? FYI - I would Google the phone number online and don't just call the number that came with it...
Scam, no legit business will ask for your ss#. Plus if this is for the stimulus , the second one hasn't been approved yet.
