Public Service Announcement! (Sort Of )

I sold some higher end knives last week, so I have a paypal balance to utilize.

I have decided to invest some of that balance into an American Knife Company.

One that I have supported many times in the past. A company that has always returned my investment with quality hard working kit.

I support them, not only because they are American and provide jobs for Americans. This, in and of itself is important. Because the money spent stays here in America. But also because they always provide consistent hard working quality.

Not every knife may fit my specific needs. And in truth, my needs and desires have evolved over time as well. But every knife purchased from this company has arrived well built, well equipped, and ready to rock & roll.

    Even better than that;
Is the fact that even if I scoop one off the secondary market, I can relax, because the warranty extends beyond one or two years, and beyond the original owner.

I guess you could say, I support them, because they support me!
A symbiotic relationship if there ever was one.

    Without getting political.
As I watch today's events unfold around us. I feel this is more important than ever. If we don't help each other, who will??

With a deluge of options out there, competition is fierce. There several factors that steer me toward this American company. not the least of which is the "Total Package" philosophy.

When my package arrives. It is ready to go on my belt. I don't need to order an aftermarket sheath. just plug and play.

Another factor is the almost brutal honesty of the owners. At times to their own detriment, they always speak the truth.

My wife has mentioned, that my own adherence to the truth can be abrasive at times. She says, at times I can be too honest. Personally, I value this trait beyond words.

When a knife built out of a much touted super steel crashed and burned in testing. It wasn't swept under the rug and deleted from the site.

Rather it was posted in big bold letters stating, "See, I told you guys this would happen!"

    Who else does that??

Without turning this into War & Peace. I felt the need to mention all of the above.
Both to remind many of us who already know this, and to be a guiding beacon, for those budding knife enthusiasts who follow.

The name of this American Company??
I'm sure you have guessed by now is ESEE!

Much like people we are close to.
Sometimes we take things from granted.
We just assume they will always be there for us.

In these trying times, I felt the need to reiterate the virtues of ESEE.

All the above was the easy part. A no brainer actually. The difficult part is which direction do I go with my money???.

    A back-up RB-3?
    A 3HM?
Maybe a CR 2.5 to go with it?
Or maybe a souped up Laser Strike from TKC with all the bells and whistles?

    I have to chuckle.
Because at times, Jeff can seem as abrasive as a belt sander.
Much like myself, it comes from honesty, and a desire to do the very best he can.

The belt sander is not my analogy. I was labeled with it by a co-worker recently, for pushing to do things right instead of easy.

For the record, I'll take a bit rough around the edges in pursuit of perfection, over smooth and polished in search of mediocrity any day.

Just something I felt I needed to say.
    LV,

    P.S.
    I hope I didn't hurt Jeff's feeling!
    I know he has one.

    Stay the course brother.
We belt sanders need to stick together.

    A quick update.
Putting my $$$ where my mouth is.

I went with my gut and ordered a 3HM and a CR 2.5.

In the near future I may order a Laser Strike and see if I can piggyback the 2.5 to it. I think that combo would cover a lot of bases.

    Rightly so.

I'll have my Laser strike back next week if you wanna put yer grubby mitts on it.

I just got my 3HM recently and I'm super happy with it so far. Fit these XXL hands nicely.

Been holding off on the 3HM in hopes that it would be released in blackwash soon. Maybe by Bladeshow? If not I'm gonna drop the hammer anyway.

    Agreed!
A 3HM with the BO blade would ring my bell too.

Or even stonewashed like my regular 3.

My Xancudo has some serious juju going on. I don't know what kinda magic is going in to these blades but mine takes one of the sharpest edges I've ever put on a knife and it holds that edge through a ton of work.

I just got an ESEE 4 3D and I like it a lot. I've only done some mild cutting so far but those 3D scales are something else. This is in my short list of favorites. I also have a BO Izula on the way.

Two of the three arrives today.

    The 3HM and the CR2.5.

Funny, no matter how much you think in your head about how a knife will look or feel. Even to the point of searching out comparison photos. They always surprise you a little when you actually get them in hand.

More so with the 2.5 than the 3HM.

The blade is perhaps a little smaller than I imagined. But I like it. I think it will slot well into my rotation.

Time will tell how useful it is. But I see it being very handy for smaller tasks. I think it would keep you alive in an emergency, as long as you were smart about it.

The 3HM is more along the lines of how I pictured it in my minds eye.

It should fill most general purpose knife rolls. The HM handles feel good in hand. The size and thickness of the 3s has always worked for me.

Tomorrow or Saturday should see the ESEE-4 3D show up.

I'll get some photos up of the three of them together when I can.

    So far, so good!
