Time for a project rig, and I think I found one, might be picking it up this weekend... ‘72, inline 6cyl, 3 speed 727, Dana 44 out back/ 30 up front, 2.5” lift, does not look like a typical Scout rust bucket...
Nice! My Dad had a ‘70 Scout when I was a tiny dude. I remember listening to the Star Wars score on 8 track riding around on back roads!
A guy at work (since retired) had a maroon one. I don't know many details. This was about 10 years ago and he only had it for a short time before trading it for something else.
A buddy jumped into a resto on an old one, I'm thinking his was mid 60's, but he ended up getting rid of it when he had some problems with parts finding. His was in pretty rough shape though. In terms of trucks that are classic and unique they're hard to beat.
I had a buddy back in '89 when we were in the Army, that picked up a '70 Scout that was tan with a 4 cyl., that engine was half of the 340 v8, pretty neat. We fixed that pig up (that's what we called it) and he drove it home to Utah from North Carolina when he got out.
I had a '78 with the 345/auto the first 2 years I was in the Army (1991 and 1992), I loved that thing. Rallye package, orange, and 33" tires (that's about all I remember spec wise). The wife hated it though, so when we hitched in October of '92 I traded it off, LOL
