you could strip the coating off your 6 and paint it with orange krylon - then bake it to harden the krylon.
a buddy of mine uses baked krylon as a gun finish and says it's pretty durable.

Yeah I here you.....I could......or I could just get one all done......... I seem to not have any time between work 2 kids and training Krav. how about Jeff tells me when I’ll be able to get it then I don’t have any problems. I’ll toss the 6 in the first aid kit in my wife’s car. If I ever need it I’ll at least have a trustworthy knife handy.

And for all of you interested in this over-hyped, over-priced steel for a hard-use outdoor knife, this is Mike and my take on it:

While we offer the exact same warranty on S35V as the rest of our line, we do not suggest the ESEE-3 S35V as a hard-use outdoor knife. These knives are hardened at the optimal 59-60 Rc. Its ability to take abuse is not even close to our ESEE-3 1095 models. The only reason we produced this model is due to the request of our customer base – not because it’s something the ESEE crew would carry or trust their life to. In our opinion, what you gain with such a premium steel in edge-holding and stain resistance does not justify the extra cost. Not to mention its inability to take the abuse that our regular knives are capable of.

Yes, in short, I think the ESEE-3 in S35V is a piece of sh*t for what I want in an outdoor tool. I wouldn't buy this knife even if it was the only ESEE available. Your mileage may vary.

Lol, I was leaning towards the Xancudo as an EDC for work anyway. I work in aerostructure, alot of metal to metal and phosphoric acid anodizing of aircraft aluminum. Due to the tanks of chemicals and high temps of the tanks I don't take my 1095 Esee's to work. Corrosion resistance is paramount for me in that enviroment.

The posted review and this post are the reasons why y'all have such a great company. Honest and no BS.

My thoughts are similar to ones you've posted previously about super steels. It's all a trade off. If I prioritized corrosion resistance I'd go for one. But I'd be happy with good old 440c. If I prioritized toughness and hard use, I'd stick to 1095 (or a tool steel like O1 or A2).

the Xancudo is the stainl.ess model I'm interested in - I'm perfectly content with 1095 in my 6HM and Junglas.

I think we're going to rename this the "Outdoor Picnic Knife" - guaranteed to slice your cheese and bread without any issues and absolutely will not rust just for the folks who are scared to death of a little rust on their blade. Of all the ESEE models we have made I see this one by far as the most useless in the outdoors....except as a picnic knife.
