The window Billy shot Deputy Olinger out of with Olingers own shotgun. Apparently, Olinger had been menacing Billy with his double barrel shotgun, endlessly. Billy broke into the armory, took it and gave Deputy Olinger both barrels.

A coworker, claims to be a relative of Olinger. He said Billy shot him in the back and regardless of how he’s been glamorized, he was just a murderer. Something else he stated, back in those times, you had to be a very “rough” individual. Life was difficult, you didn’t know if people coming on your property meant to kill you and take your belongings or what. Then, there was the Mescalero Apaches, they’d just kill you for being on their land.

Pics from the deer camp earlier this month. My 2 year old is in love with the woods. She was leading the way hiking around the trails.

Didn’t get any pics, but my buddy and I planted over 60 crabapple saplings that Sunday to continue our 10 year tradition of enhancing the property for wildlife every spring.

Some pics from today’s field work. Cypress/Tupelo swamp that transitions into freshwater floating marsh. This is some of my favorite environments to work in.

Went for a easy solo walk up to crystal falls in coquitlam BC canada , cool history up here most come for the falls but im more interested in the old mcnair operation that ran in the early-mid 1900s . Built the railway with bc electric the line was called the port moody/ coquitlam railway and they ran lumber from the mountains through the now deleloped city to the mill down at the water . Heres a link sorry for my poor story telling and bad photography but thought this might be nice to share with some people stuck inside duribg this covid crap. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Moody-Coquitlam_Railway
Heres some pics of the moubtain portions old growth stumps leftover , some views of the surrounding landscape , old grill id assume from a truck in the end of the logging era and an exposed portion of the old railway. Had to get a pic of some new steel on the old 20200406_123506.jpg 20200406_124332.jpg 20200406_125604.jpg 20200406_133337.jpg 20200406_134157.jpg 20200406_133531.jpg 20200406_133703.jpg 20200406_140526.jpg 20200406_132548.jpg

Heres some pics of the old mill site that burned down in the 50s . Again sorry for the bad pics. Some great photographers have some awesome shots if you want to see better shots google mcnair shingle co coquitlam bc. Its now a park but still very cool. All the old bricks from a now decomissioned factory in abbotsford bc (a cool historic town remains) still lay stamped in the sand. 20200406_145533.jpg 20200406_145537.jpg 20200406_145540.jpg 20200406_145544.jpg 20200406_145617.jpg 20200406_145647.jpg 20200406_145801.jpg

Later this week ill be heading up to burke mountain. I want to try and find the abandoned junkyard from Rambo First Blood where he rips off the seat cover in the old logging truck to make his pancho ! If anyone has been there, or lives in the lower mainland who wants to join and practice their 2m social distancing shoot me a message !
