Let’s Talk Knapping! I have acquired a interest in Knapping after attending Bushcraft class recently. I know that some around here have experience with Knapping and I’m sure some would like to learn more about it Tips? Tricks? Hints? Recommendations? Resources? Literature?

He probably did that in 10 minutes. He walked across my property one time and gathered enough food to feed 20 people
@DYSPHORIC JOY I look at it as another tool/ skill in my tool box. Having not had the chance to personally try it verdict is still out on how much I will like it or not but IMO it never hurts to learn a new skill I went out today looking for supplies to make a couple different Knapping tools. (I Set my current max investment at $20 so making the tools is a must). From the videos I have watched, Copper tools are pretty popular( still don’t know why) so I managed to find a couple different parts for making the copper “boppers” ( pipes, fittings and caps were under $12-13 total. After trying to follow the online instructions to make the “boppers” they will need to wait for another day ( Copper caps don't dome as easily as they made it look) So tomorrow it looks like I’m going to try and find some parts for the push stick / pressure flaking style Knapping..
Called around and searched the Internet enough to find someone locally who sells Copper Welding tips. ( In a less then $30 plus dollar pack. ) Found a 10 pack for about $6 with coupon at the local H@rbor Freight These are used to make a style of pressure flaker . They are used to make flakers similar to the one below.
Picked up some Antler sheds yesterday Going to cut these down for Knapping tools. I am hoping to get 3 good pieces/ tools from this one. This one could be interesting because of the size of the bend. I am thinking 3 maybe 4 tools from this one.
Lately I have been trying to fill in the gaps in my skill set. Working on plants ( both Edible ID and Plant Fibers) and on stone tools. I haven’t really gotten to knapping yet as workable stone is hard to come by where I live although we do have quartz my skills and the cobbles need to create tools are lacking. I have managed to make a few crude hand axes and burins and the like just by smashing a few rocks together. But I decided to take on a project that would be more suitable to my current skill level so I produced a bow drill socket using a combination of pecking and grinding as well as drilling with a crude point. Pretty pleased with the results also made a shaft sander to use on arrows and darts and maybe even throwing spears. A bonus is the byproduct can be used as a pigment
