Agreed, that was a cool little knife. The grind on this one came out a little more dagger-y than was my original intention, but that is the purpose of prototypes. With only an 1/8" thick blade, not a lot of beef to push the clip grind back up. All of that being said, I think I may prefer this grind now. It has received a lot of positive feedback, so I will see where it goes on the next one. Regardless, it has a very strong point and it slices well, so I am happy!

Thank you! I will post some pics of the build along for the next one I am making, as well. It's fun to show all the steps in these.

Here is a quick video demonstrating how the sawteeth work on my knives. If you want to process a lot of wood, sawback knives are the wrong tool for you. But that is not what mine are designed to do. They are designed to cut notches or make occasional clean cuts on wood. For that purpose, they work nicely.

This is a SAFE System II knife. It has about a 6" blade, so the sawback portion is only about 2" long. I didn't use a 2x4 because that would be a bit of an unfair test. I cut this piece of wood and I have another I will upload soon. You can also find them on my Instagram feed.

Here is one recently completed, a Mini UST (Utility Survival Tactical). This one has a 4 7/8" long blade of 5/32" thickness. It has an aluminum handle and buttcap, and stainless steel guard silver soldered in place. I will post more pics soon. Thanks for looking!

Working on an M9 blade the other day and decided to do a brief video discussing one of the most misunderstood aspects of "survival knives," the sawteeth. A little explanation and a little demonstration.

Some of the obsession I have been living with: Martin Knives, Voorhis, Andrew Clifford, Black Star, Greg Wall, couple of explorers. No Randall pictures for some reason.

Currently waiting on a Wall First Blood.

Just wrapping this one up, so just a cell phone pic. But here is the new M9 prototype. I will add more pics of the sheath and everything else soon. Feedback is welcome!

Here is one of the M9 with sheath. Belt loop is still a little wet from finish being applied, but I'm very pleased with this one.

Prototypes are always a lot of work, so glad to be wrapping this one up. Now I can add it to the lineup, having made templates along the way. More to come this week. Thanks for looking!
