I have been asked if I would do a whole lamb, so I got me a bunch of @RedEyedHog and picking up the lamb on Friday. I’ll keep you posted.
@mtngoat I am a shameless Turkey injector I mix up a good 1/2 gallon or more of garlic and herbs sauce and then use it all on one turkey. Bake the turkey with a “secret” method until it is juicy and falls off the bone. Then home made gravy from the left over juice. Other than that I make up a big dish a green bean casserole. We then all sit around and eat green bean casserole and turkey with gravy. We use to go all out and invite a bunch of friends and coworkers over for Christmas Thanksgiving and Easter BUT I ended up doing all the cooking and I am now on strike. We still get some folks that want to come over for just Turkey and green bean casserole so we have a open door policy for most of the day after the turkey is done (means I bake a big turkey )
Come on down The lamb is getting injected with our family's pig sauce, its a mix of apple cider vinegar, red pepper flakes, lite brown sugar, some ketchup and other seasonings and will marinate in it for 2 days.
Well his health isn't the best either and with just meeting him a couple months ago I want to spend as much time with him as I can. I never expected to have such a bond with him as I do but it's an amazing thing. And no, spending the holidays alone sucks. I've done it the last couple decades... Of course I didn't have family then either.
The weather is supposed to be ugly all week, going fishing then coming back, celebrate and eat myself till I'm in a stupor. Rinse and repeat.
Not a damn thing. Seems like we've been running WAO for the whole year and just finally catching a break. Plan on sitting right here with the wife and dog and watch the world go by.
The mountains were calling, so I must go... Well...until the grandkids called. Now I must go to Dallas, for they take precedence.
Have two stops,Thanksgiving breakfast at inlaws and lunch at Dad's,so hopefully the weekend will be spent XC skiing or wandering the woods as I will have plenty of food to burn off.... I hope you all enjoy good food and good company as we all have things to be thankful for.
We open up that lamb tonight to dry rub it with some @RedEyedHog and inject it with our family sauce, this thing is gonna be good on Thanksgiving.
