These small folding shovels are not good even for urban duty in the winter. I carry a small to medium sized, very sturdy shovel all the time in the car - it has broken so much ice, both near the car and near the entrance of the flat I live in.
That one time I was not carrying it, I got stuck in a lot of snow - 4x4, but the bottom of the car was standing on the snow, all 4 tires in the air, around 1 cm from the ground - just enough to have them free spinning - I used a machete to dig and free the car :D

Wow, I've never seen a mighty 80 stuck, must have forgotten to push the diff lock or turn on the F&R lockers ;)

After being stuck/breaking down numerous times in my Jeeps, I learned my lesson and travel in a pack of Land Cruisers now. Usually theirs at least one smart one who brings a shovel or a tow strap, all together we equal almost half a brain.

I usually remember to bring everything but the stuff I need like a spare tire, or the wheel lock key, etc.

......it's a DX diesel so no lockers but the front hubs were locked in. Just nothing there the front tyres could grip and the the chassis was sitting on a hard edge of the hole stopping the back tyres getting a grip...literally when I pulled it out it was only moved forward by the about 10cm and the back wheels bit and it jumped out. It's what happens when she suggests going off road when the trip had been planned as inter city (Sydney to Brisbane and back) and campground camping.....so no real recovery gear packed.

Yes it is, that's 48 concrete blocks.
Still have some more work to do on it, and more blocks to haul.

I just updated the Build Thread for my Tacoma for the first time in 5 years. Took quite a bit of time, but I finally have some more-recent pics and specs:

After waiting two months on my local ARB shop to be ready, dropped it off during the week for the steel side rails and steps to be fitted. Bar work is all one piece and bolts to around the chassis so they can act as sliders if need be....

.......colour looks a bot weird as the light here is quite strange at the moments, it is overcast and stormy but there is still lots of smoke hanging in the air...never quite seen it like that here before that I can recall..!
