    Nice! 7x7? I can't quite make out the right side. I really hope to go on an elk hunt someday. Elk, moose and caribou are my top three bucket list hunts.

    @IW17
    I did not get to see it in person I’ve only got this photo from them. It is apparently a 7x8 which was taken with a bow.

    Fun day bow fishing. Waded a small local river. Lots of suckers and drum.

    Hopefully putting the smack down on one of these guys this week. Nothing phenomenal but decent for public land in NJ.

    Just got back from big sky country. I was able to score on this 4x4. Awesome hunt! Beautiful scenery, almost was bitten by a rattle snake, and found out these deer can hide in plain sight :).

    That's awesome. I'm planning on taking my first hunting trip out west next year. Did you use a guide or go unguided? I'm weighing the pros and cons. A guide makes sense since I'm in unfamiliar territory, but it adds so much more money to the equation.

    This trip was kinda guided. It was on the fort belknap Indian reservation. So I had to be accompanied by a enrolled tribe member. He was there to basically tell me if it was a legal 4x4.
    On that note this trip kinda fell into my lap. However I’m planning on a DIY trip next year out west. From the little research that I have done I’m learning toward Idaho. They have an OTC tag and lots of public land. It is super daunting for a non resident to plan a trip out west. I will tell you this, start with the state you choose DNR for information. Forums and internet site stink. Lots of conflicting stories and most residents don’t like non residents hunting there lands. The draw states I think are super confusing but it’s fun to plan it all out. Good luck!!!

    Been down at deer camp since Friday night. Staying till Sunday night. My buddy shot this one last night. Wasn't a perfect hit so he backed out and we gave it till we'll after dinner before going back in last night. Blood was hit or miss. Sometimes it was easy, sometimes almost nothing. Small drop on a blade of grass or leaf. We were worried since rain was coming in around midnight and staying until afternoon today. Luckily we ended up walking right to him in about an hour.

    Yesterday evening, 5:06pm, with maybe 10 minutes of light left this one stepped out of the grass at around 50 yards. 1 shot. 556mm. LF shoulder angled in. Of course he flipped into a ditch I had to drag him out of. :) image.jpeg
