i just purchased one of these to try. Anyone else have any experience with this product? Likes? Dislikes? Applications? Other than just a blanket?

Keep one in my SAR bag and in the back of the 4Runner. They are great for warming up compared to the size they pack to. I've used mine a lot. Mostly as a blanket.

Mine will stay mainly in my bag in my 4Runner. We can have some pretty nasty winters here. Is the temp rating pretty spot on? It seems they aren’t always very accurate.

Well, it's hard to be objective on that question since everyone is different. Some folks I know sleep hot in them at 40 degrees. Others get cold. So, not sure how to answer that.

Yeah that’s one of those questions with a lot of variables from person to person. I’m going to pair it with a wool blanket so I’m pretty confident with them both I’m pretty well covered.

Yep. It's true of sleeping bags, quilts, woobies, etc. Everyone has their own preference

wool blanket is probably the worst when it comes to warmth vs. weight ratio (not to mention packability). only criteria it wins is in price and barely at that (it's hard to find 100% wool nowadays and when you do the price is way high)...my advice is test your gear in the backyard or car camping to see where you fall in the temp spectrum.

for me, down or synthetic wins every time...i'm a cold sleeper by the way.

Thanks for the advice. I might have to rethink the wool blanket then. Any suggestions?

I think you'd be fine with the snugpak and a wool blanket. If you are worried pick up one of those tiny S.OL. thermal bivys just in case you need to increase the warmth beyond what the aforementioned blankets can provide

yes...anything below freezing and i'm bringing my zero deg bag...i'm definitely a cold sleeper compared to most people i know.

wool blanket is fine if you don't mind the weight or car camping. if you want synthetic, a versatile blanket and 50 deg f or above (temp comfort is highly subjective) i recommend either a kifaru woobie or doobie (climashield apex synthetic insulation)...anything below and i bring a 900-fill down quilt.

blanket vs. quilt vs. sleeping bag is a whole other discussion though.

    I’m considering a quilt also.

I've got the Traveller, which is a non-tactical colored version of the jungle bag. Same design, mosquito net, weight, etc. It's just blue. I like it a lot. It takes up very little space and I don't wake up sweating. My wife bought me another Snugpak bag (Basecamp, maybe?) years ago when I had pointed out the Jungle Bag to her. This other bag is a much bulkier, black, mummy-style sleeping system and is way too warm for me or maybe just too warm for my area.

I’m a tall guy, so I opted for the extra length of the Kiafru Woobie. But mor $$$

Those are nice but quite pricey.
