This weekend I DuraCoated my Marlin 1894 .44 Mag in Mortar and Socom Black. I think it turned out pretty well. Before After
Probably posted these before but sure I'd be happy to keep the levers coming. They just have such appeal, at least for me. I grew up with them. First rifle of a significant caliber (30-30 Marlin) I ever shot. Here is a lever that went against the Winchesters and Marlins and developed a huge following. Great deer rifle. One of my favorites. "For hunting North American game the Savage 99 is still one of the finest hunting rifles of all time. In fact, it was a solid performer well into the later part of the last century, nearly one hundred years after its creation. It was manufactured for nearly a century with over a million rifles produced before the Savage 99 was discontinued due to decrepit machinery and increased cost." The design of the 99 is superior to lever actions such as the Winchester 94 and the Marlin 336, because it can handle high intensity cartridges. It has several superior design features that make it more comparable to the Browning BLR and even modern bolt actions like the Winchester Model 70. The rotary spool magazine allows for the use of pointed bullets, which retain greater velocity downrange than the flat point bullets required by lever guns with tubular magazines. Its strong action allowed it to be chambered in many modern, short-action, high intensity cartridges. "The .300 Savage, went on to become one of the most popular short action .30-caliber deer and elk cartridges of all time. Later it was to become the basis of the experiments conducted by the U.S. military when they began developing a replacement for the .30-06 service rifle cartridge. Ultimately, the 7.62mm NATO/.308 Winchester was the result." This one is a 99e in outstanding condition in 300 Savage. 5+1 Rotary spool magazine. About 67 years old.
Got this from my local gun shop with two mags and the Sig Romeo3 for 1200 out the door. Thought it was a pretty good deal. Not a fan of this style brace though so I’ll have to change it out.
Today at the range, some of my Federal cousins came to visit and brought some toys to play with. They actually came out to do a presentation for a group of federal prosecutors, to show both what they use and what what they've seized. It's always fun to watch a group of non-shooters, especially lawyers, shoot for the first time and realize they actually enjoy it. A lot. Glock 18c. This is a little monster and totally uncontrollable. But reeeaaallyyy fun! Old school Tommie gun and an AK. The Tommie is a heavy gun, shooting a .45 and totally controllable. The AK is a rough and tumble beast and totally reliable. Also did some ballistic gel tests. Nothing formal, just to show what the various rounds do after going through armor/tissue.
Oh man!!! Ive seen those glocks in action and they are a wild ride for even the best shooters. Not for me. NUH UH.
I should have this NEXT WEEK now. :super angry face: 12.7” barrel Adjustable pistol brace A2 flash hider Ambidextrous controls Vertical grip mandatory to keep it legal 26.5” overall I believe.
