We're supposed to go see the old house today where they all grew up in, including mom, and where I would've grown up at. I can't wait! Sis and I are supposed to get matching tattoos also but the funds aren't really there. Maybe in the future....

 

What area was the old house in?

 

this forum is dead......no one adventuring? no gear testing? no hiking? no 4wheeling? no fishing? no boating? where is everybody? used to be so busy here.....

I get that we all work, i know it all too well - I work insane hours - not a lot of time to adventure.......if i could I would quit work and adventure every day.

I know for me I’ve been sucked into the schools on summer break hole. When you got kiddos old enough to enjoy the outdoors it’s Awesome!! When you have a young kiddo outdoors is not a great option..
Plus it normally around 90 degrees outside with high humidity...

 

Id rather sit at home in my a/c and take pics of my knives....
I havent had much of a desire to even get out of bed these last few months, let alone do anything else. And the few instances i considered it, it rained. It does that a lot here now lol.

 

Brother.....i have been there! the hell with the rain........ some of my best adventures have been where I have been soaking wet from BC rains in the woods.

I get the lack of desire of getting out of bed ........dear god its every day for me, despite a well paying trucking job. ....I just hate this city..........and the people in it. It wears me down .........

I want to be in a small rural town where I work a bit to live , help out my neighbors, volunteer for the fire dept and SAR. and enjoy exploring.......
right now its one day a week .....and while i admit this area is pretty damn awesome to explore........its the job that is killing me......

I have a plan....albeit a "not sure it will ever happen plan" of buying a 6x6 army truck, and taking people out into the wilderness and 6x6ing and then having a massive cast iron cook out for them. I think people would really enjoy that.

but i have mental blocks and financial blocks.....and part of that is although i own my Apt, its not really mine....its in my Mom's name (for tax purposes) ...and she doesn't want to sell.

so here i am....still here in Vancouver.

my weekend adventures are not enough.............

Taylor isnt a bad area. Its pretty blue collar around there. So when are you moving to Michigan?

 

People are still busy and active, forums just aren't the preferred method of interaction for many now.

I've learned a lot here and enjoy interacting with many of the members and have tried to be more active lately posting pics and activities. At the same time, I don't really enjoy it as much as I used to in years past so it won't likely last long. The same is true in my Instagram usuage.

People now have moved to facebook groups or other similar (but better) platforms, where they can share and interact with people of their choosing without certain restrictions. I still interact primarily through text, but on other platforms I can call someone out for something stupid without having my hand slapped. Like forums used to be.

And some folks just get too busy with family, work and life in general or move on to other hobbies and interests.

Just my .02. Worth less than you paid for it.

 

Not at all and it was really cool to see where they lived and went to school and grew up. Nothing wrong with blue collar, without us, nothing would function lol.

Not sure, probably not for a while. There's some preexisting family drama that I got caught up in but I'm not going to take sides. So not until that is resolved in some way, or at least until I'm not in the middle of it.

 

On a positive note, I met with my aunts and cousin on my adopted side. I haven't seen my aunts in 25 years and my cousin in 40.. It was the fastest 3 hours I've ever experienced. It was nice though and nice to catch up. This will probably be the last time I'll see them before they pass. Brought mom too so they could meet and it went really well.
