I could say my favorite is whatever blade is most expensive, fanciest, best steel, best fit and finish. Whatever the newest flavor of the day is. But it just, isn't. My favorite knife is a knife that never sees any carry time, not anymore anyway. It was my very first knife, happened upon by pure happenstance, found under a large rock on the side of the driveway of our new house after moving to a new town, when I was 5 years old. It was buried in mud and, for some reason, tons and tons of beetles. This tiny little blade (the smaller of two) gave me my first scar, on the back of my hand. I carried it in a little belt sheath which was far oversized, sold to me for a couple dollars by my local mom and pop hardware store. I wore this little blade on my hip for a few years, while drooling over the 'high end' steel in the display case at the same store. The likes of Buck, more expensive Victorinox, Leatherman etc. It's what spurred my interest in knives, all those years ago, and remains my favorite to this day, for that very reason.
Squeeking this one in at the last minute. The Jaeger andI have become inseparable. Not too big, not too small, it goes with me everywhere, and bats above its weight.

Bahahaha! Most of my hiking centers around hiking to or locating a water source. Guess it's always on my mind when out and about. Not always the prettiest water but it's always wet!
