Nice fishes! They look tasty :D
This is an awesome fish to eat, here it can be caught only in the mountains, well worth the effort !

    Great thread!

Loaded up my truck with supplies and gear early in the morning. We were heading north today ( as usual) in search of some epic fly fishing waters for when the season opens back up on July 1st.

The drive in was unreal as usual. I love this part of B.C. the coast is where it’s at, but the interior is gorgeous in its own right.

I stopped at a small lake right off of the FSR and cast into it a few times. Nailed a little rainbow right on my first cast. That was a good sign. There was a family of eagles there as well, so the fishing must be decent for them to stay around.

Another 45 min down the road and we were on the Mcleod River. We hiked down to a major waterfall. I would love to see this in the spring time, I bet it’s just wild.

This trail was like a highway compared to the ah*t I normally have to go through lol

    03307915-27C7-4BA8-8852-61027CD6349A.jpeg

I was getting close after the first 20 minutes of walking, I could see the river and definitely early hear the waterfalls ever distinctive roar.

Here it is. Absolutely beautiful. I was pretty high up on a cliff when I took this.

TGLB shot. After @Bushman5 gifted the incredible TOPS Operator 7, I used it a lot, the more I used it, the more I missed my TGLB. A few years ago I had to let it go, but vowed to get another. Here it is!

I trust this knife as much as my ESEE 5 and Tops Op 7. That says a lot. My old TGLB was used for everything, no different that the other two knives I just mentioned. Good knife!

Looking further down river. This is going to be a blast to fly fish later!!

Further down river from the first few pictures. This is a flyfishermans paradise. I would build a nice cabin here if I could.

That's some beautiful scenery there. Also, interesting point on the eagles being a sign of good fishing. Some of the best fishing here is where I see cormorants hanging around.

The upper section of the falls was beautiful, but the farther down river I went, the better it got!

Another nice section. This place was captivating.

    C7640D04-0EB0-4A7A-81A2-BD0B92039A75.jpeg

Look at how clear the water was. Pure backcountry goodness right here. At this point I went into the river, screw pictures, I’m having fun lol.

    659F6386-DC61-411A-ADF2-3F95F9DCEEFE.jpeg

Back on the trail, I continued down to the base of the falls. Nice country. It was how I’m the sun the bush was nice and cool. The black flies were out in full force like the Luftwaffe in WW2. But so was my veitnam quality bug spray hahahahaha.

I was just waiting for a grizzly to pop it’s head up through all the underbrush. Mexican standoff with a 1200 lb grizzly wouldn’t be fun.

    EC941A72-11E3-4696-BD0D-3F8F51FC7BB1.jpeg

At last! The base of the falls. This pocture doesn’t do it justice. The volume of water here is sickening and the sound was unbelievable. I was in awe. I love BC.

This is the honey hole. Once season opens up I’ll be fishing the pool at the base of this monster.

After that, the river tapers off into a tame, friendly central Interior river.

    C4ED17E8-96BE-470A-AED0-4A14DE451FAA.jpeg

After that, I hiked out and headed to my final destination. A huge lake peppered with islands, rock/gravel bottom and full of
Big trout. Time to kick the fires and light the tires baby!!!

Canoe unloaded, and in the might lake that feeds the Mcleod river.

Steep embankments, lots of underwater elevation changes. I was excited. This rapidly became my favourite place on earth.

The shoreline in most spots was gravel that was the size of marbles. It was an incredible place. I dropped my line in with my faithful combination for this area and soon enough we were hooked into fish non stop. All 20” + rainbows.

My wingman for the day. Already hooked into a 20” trout. We have found a colour pattern that works like magic for the central interior. It didn’t fail us at this lake either.

As I paddled along I saw this white triangle on a tree. Middle of nowhere, but it was within 500 meters of the river mouth. Maybe an indicator? I couldn’t figure it out. There were no trails, structures or any other reason for it to be there.

    Any ideas? @Bushman5 @Reno Lewis

Check out this giant widow maker. Imagine the stories this tree had. The storms, fires, brutally cold winters, flood like spring thaws..it saw it all before meeting its fate. Only a matter of time before it falls. I’d imagine there is a bow drill set for 50 in there lol. Pretty cools picture though.

    But this one is better.

That’s how this knife should look all the time. Unlike a lot of folks I see, I actually use the hell out of my Busse knives. They are overpriced, but they are truly incredible knives. Tough as hell too. I fed my battle mistress two deck screws by accident and I bartonned through them both with very minor damage to my edge.

It’s a long story, but imagine taking a NMASHBMLE ( LOL ) and batonninf through a log that someone drove two decking screws into. You think it’s a knot, and you beat the sh*t out of your knife to get through it only to see your edge messed up and two decking screws cut in half in the middle of the log that is now split.....SUPRISE!!!

Now thats the way to play! Y'all live in a place that just screams "stunning vistas" 7. Keep it coming dude. :)

Now a technical question if you please? Love the HPG stuff, it's always there tempting me. How do you get it and your PFD to work together? The answer to this has kept me from buying a chest rig more than once...

    Technical question accepted.

I bought a certain strap system for my V2 that has enough adjustment that it will fit over a PFD.

PFD selection is key as well. I am trying to buy a low profile one. I don’t need to float like a cork. A standard life jacket is hard to even paddle in.

There are certain times where I don’t wear my PFD but will have my chest rig on, like if there are multiple quick paddles between portages, or when the water is dead calm.

I’m a moron though, as I should wear my PFD 100% of the time, but don’t.

I want to run one of the CO2 PFD’s that are low profile and if you fall, you pull the tip cord and you blow up like a balloon.

Many will curse me for not always wearing a PFD.

    Awesome report once again man.

That TGLB has long been a grail of mine, you ever let it go, hit me up.

Also, that white triangle is one of three things. A closed area, management area, or the boundary between tidal and non tidal waters.

That'd be amazing. I've missed every single run for the past year and a half so far. If you score one for me, I might need you to hold onto it for a little while until I can afford it, if you don't mind.
