Just put the sheath back together after painting it. Krylon camo, flat dark earth and OD mix. Turned out pretty nice if I say so myself. It started out as a standard coyote molded plastic sheath and belt clip.
Just a thorough degrease with some rubbing alcohol and a blue shop towel. Decided not to sand it. Seems to have worked just fine. I let it cure for five days before I did anything with it, and it seems to have cured fairly well.
Great pictures of those 4's. Can't wait to get mine - black blade with clip point. It will replace my Swamp Rat RS as EDC blade for the bag, I like the slightly larger blade of the 4 and the aggressive, sharpened clip point. I have had the same 4 before, but sold it - the handle is a bit small for my hand for extended woods usage, but for riding in the EDC bag and occasional usage it would be perfect. It will be a dedicated urban EDC fixed blade, also for traveling around, when I do not carry another fixed blade, this one can cover all my needs if needed. I will also try to carry it IWB if I go to a place with handgun restrictions.
Are the 4s ground thinner these days? I have had the same one a couple of years back and it had quite thick grind, so I sold it. Recently I saw a tan G10 handled 4 which was pretty thin groud and great cutter, which made me get my 4 - it also has a thin grind and cuts very well.
There's the esee 4 and then the esee pr4. The pr4 is from the camplore series and has 1/8 inch thickness with tan micarta scales. That's what sounds like you're describing.
Both of them are regular handled 4 with sharpened clip point, only the older one had the kydex sheath, the new is molded plastic. Same thickness, but the grind of the newer 4, the one from the above pictures, is in my opinion a lot thinner (with the same thickness at the spine), which makes it a lot better slicer. Or just the older one was ground thicker than normal
