mora 510 and h&b forge shawnee is my hands down favorite pair for several years now. i don't even know why i own other knives at this point since i seem to only want to carry the 510 all the time. kifaru zxr (photo credit goes to reuben)...the pack just carries so well and the outside slots fits a tomahawk or silky saw perfectly...leki trekking poles - perfect for crossing icy/slippery terrain. emberlit titanium wood stove...cook pot/cup it's a tie between the evernew 900 ml pot and the heavy cover canteen cup...just depends on the trip if i'm in the mood for cooking or strictly boiling water...if i'm forced to pick just one it's the evernew.
Youve changed! I remember your spyderco bushcraft days, sneaking up on fish with a lite machete days and even a bit of busse love haha. Good stuff Jay, I too use the humble mora the most, I ordered a couple of blanks to see if I can make the perfect mora handle. Anyways Happy New Year and I hope your well!
happy new year, sol! i evolved, haha. my spyderco bushcraftuk's handle is still the best ergos i've ever held so far...and i still have my busse/kin choppers...gotta be prepared for the zombiepocalypse! i think the turning point for me was when reuben introduced me to the h&b tomahawk...i haven't stopped using it since. it's a lot of fun to use and i'm actually surprised i haven't gotten bored with it after all these years...my belt knife got relegated to just feathersticks and food prep and i don't baton anymore so my over-built knives are collecting dust.
Nargear victim wildland fire fighting pack, I have used mystery ranch, nimrod, and coaxsher firefighting packs and this is my favorite so far, so much so that I purchased my own so I can use it on my own time for hiking around. Lower lumbar packs feel weird to most people at first but once you get them fitted the stability and ability to strap larger loads on top of them is awesome.

For me, I don't have a top 5. Everything regularly circulates when I eventually get outdoors. But the 1 item, that goes with me everywhere is the Mors pot and some kind of leatherman. And a good headlamp.
Salomon X Ultra hiking shoes Nikon Monarch 7 binoculars Thermacell Surefire 6PX Flashlight Benchmade MiniGriptillian pocket knife
Leatherman Charge. Ever since getting this one all my other pocket knives have sat in the drawer. On a rare occasion one might get some pocket time but this one is so useful and a 154cm blade taboot.
Just tap the face really hard a few times. Should fire right back up. There's no lubricant in there, so they're prone to stop every once in a while.
