Padron 1964 series has been my go to this year for cigars but I typically smoke a Don Tomas.
I smoke pipes when I'm on longer backcountry trips. (Lighter, not as time consuming as a cigar, easier to carry) My favorite pipe tobacco is Cade's Cove cavendish. I get it from the Gatlinburlier shop in Gatlinburg when we are up that way.

Where do most of you guys buy your cigars and pipe tobacco? I typically buy from Famous Smoke shop or Thompson Cigar. Locally, at least where I'm at, there's not many good cigar shops.

20171201_221449.jpg 20171201_223057.jpg Wanted to revive this thread, made this pipe on lunch break the other day out of a piece of scrap oak. With a drill press, band saw and a disk/belt sander to get it 90 percent then a little whittling and hand sanding to finish her off, all told about 45 minutes worth of work I am pretty happy with it. Carved groves for my teeth the other night and have to sand them in a little better now. If I owned the machinery I'd start making them to sell, once I got it down I think I could make a profit and still sell them at a price nearly anyone could afford them, 30 bucks for a hand made wood pipe would be pretty good IMO. My only other qaulm would be I don't know about the long term durability, I fully expected this one to crack the first time I smoked it due to the wood bowl heating up unevenly compared to the wooden stem but it didn't, if it lasts a while longer I might make a few and offer them up to regular pipe smokers for the cost of shipping and ask for feedback/durability reports after extended use. So far only smoked it twice with carter hall, very smooth smoke (likely due to the 1/8th inch stem hole, only drill bit I had long enough lol) but a little hot, not much opportunity for the smoke to cool down.

Mmmm.....cigars. I used to smoke a couple a week before my daughter came along, now I'm down to 1 or so a week, sometimes 2 if I bring on out to the range or something. My Instagram account, at www.instagram.com/martin_j001 has lots of cigar pics in it. My favorites and go-to's are most things by My Father, most things Tatuaje, a few Oliva, some AJ Fernandez stuff, and others that I sprinkle in for variety... I've smoked pipes off and on too, and while I enjoy the ritual, I don't do it as much anymore as it just *feels* more time consuming than smoking a cigar. Also doesn't pair as well with whiskey or anything, IMO...

The Le Bijou 1922 is definitely a favorite, but the Flor de Las Antillas is great too. As for AJ Fernandez, the New World and Enclave are both great sticks for under $10 a piece, IMO.

On a pipe smoking kick again, I am what I would describe as an infrequent nicotine user, generally once a month or less. Mostly pipes or swedish snus, I hadn't smoked a pipe in close to a year. Now several guys I work with are also occasional pipe smokers so I'm getting back into it. Dug my cobs and my single briar estate out and gonna get them cleaned up and order some good tobacco, pics to follow!
