Jeff, I don't think they realize this is the first ESEE group photo ever. Randolph was skinny back then.
Thorlo... that is my sock recommendation ! I am not touching or engaging with ANY other theme in this thread..!!
I have discovered that the only sock to buy is DarnTough socks. Hands down the best anywhere. And lifetime guarantee--wear a hole in them and they'll send you a new pair. And they are at SHOT Show so they can operate in the operating world too.
seriously? I go thru thick wool work socks like crazy, and its always the heels that get holes. so basically if i bought a pair of Darn Toughs, used them hard and wore a hole them, they send a new pair? I'm going to be getting free pair of socks every month if thats the case!
That is exactly how it works. Although I’ve been trying to wear a hole in them to no avail. So I can’t speak from personal experience. But I asked the lady at the darn tough booth at Shot this same question every day last year and that was her answer. This is my thinking: I buy 7 pairs of socks from them and that is it for the rest of my life. Done buying socks. They are super comfortable. I have two pairs of the thinner ones but they have all different styles and thicknesses. From dress socks to running socks to thick hikers. I’ve been wearing the two pair I have for about 6 months now and it is one of those things that just works like they say. You can also buy some styles on amazon prime.
Randolph doesn't impress me as much as how Mike looked back then. Full head of dark hair without a touch of gray.
Another Darn Tough fan here. If I could afford to have only Darn Tough socks, I would, BUT it does motivate me to do my laundry more frequently just to keep them in rotation. SmartWool make pretty decent socks, too!
I once wore nothing but a pair of Darn Toughs while walking from Whitehorse to Nome in January. My ears got a little cold.
I used to wear darn tuffs exclusively for wildland firefighting, 14 days strait 16 hours a day in whites boots, I'd bring two pairs for a roll (2 weeks on duty) when one pair got too nasty (around day 6) take it off wash it in a creek or with a fire hose, strap it to the out side of your pack and let it dry out. Still wear them a fair bit but now I know where I can get factory second Farm to Feet socks (nearly as good as darn tuffs) for a dollar fifty a pair so I wear those more now since the intial investment is so much lower than the darn tuffs.
