my new choice in cordage - syntheric sinew. like 5000 feet on that roll. About 80LB breaking strength. Individual strands are human hair thick, perfect for light fishing line, DIY sutures (LOL) , or sewing.

the GITD med patch on the med kit really stands out. Good thing i am not E&E'ing! LOL....

pure British sweets, thanks to a buddy in the UK who ordered an entire case for his unit and sent me a few of these along with some taffy and disgustingly strong even by my tastes tea. . This black block is black liquorice toffee. I highly encourage everyone to keep one of these in their survival kit. It will provide about 1000 calories. One cube per day, your golden.

    future lean to spot....... :)

    IMG_1194.JPG

flooding/spotting the massive powerline clearing with the headlamp. This headlamp is one of the better ones I have owened, but its still not enough output or flood.......I literally want a wall of 25000+ lumens diffused high CRI flood lighting, for like 12 hours on high............

no luck on warranty, but i'm just going to cut the blade into a nice shape and turn the other piece into a mini blade , maybe rawhide wrap it for a handle.

NOVEMBER 17/2018, -1 CELCIUS, SUNNY, "THE BUILD A LEAN TO TOUR"

1 hour of daylight left. time to hustle

    IMG_1318.JPG

trio of brutally tough tools.......no thin blade chip outs due to frozen wood today!
    IMG_1320.JPG

0 deg Celsuis and temps rapidly dropping, along with the daylight
    IMG_1322.JPG

the L.R.R.P.R. webbing, with a new pouch (Mayflower/Velocity Systems jungle butt pouch) on top. This webbing rig loadout (esp in the cold weather with added sleeping bag/bivy sack etc) is approaching 35lbs. Yet i do not notice the weight barely at all.....its that comfortable. the same loadout in my Halftrak pack would leave me with screaming shoulders and be top heavy.

time for a classic northern Canada lean to build

Explat cleaver brushing the p*cker poles free of branches
    IMG_1335.JPG

fire materials trimmed off the poles. Note the two standing trees that will be utilized to build a fire reflector

some tools (Expat cleaver, Empire Tactical Breech Can and EXOTAC nanospark)
    IMG_1344.JPG

    IMG_1346.JPG IMG_1351.JPG

halfway thru shelter construction, got the fire going to keep warm, despite being warm from hauling poles.
    IMG_1352.JPG

digging out rocks with the cleaver, from the floor of the shelter.
    IMG_1367.JPG

super hot pine and hemlock fire. Got some noodles soaking via radiant heat. Despite the unfinished lean to (gaps in roof, no sides yet, icy cold wind coming from behind the shelter), the inside of the shelter was about 15 deg Celsius. I plan to add thick moss roof thatching, covered sides, a reflective tarp inside the shelter ceiling, raised bed platform and a heavy poly plastic sheet in front of the shelter, Mors super shelter style, to get the interior temps up to about 40 deg C this winter.
    IMG_1378.JPG IMG_1382.JPG

All Hail The Cleaver! If you look carefully at the fire/ flames. You can see a devil horned chameleon lizard with a fire tongue. (Fire Spirit)
I took a burst photo of 100 HDR frames and this one stood out
