We often get lots of questions about directions, camping, and general questions pertaining to attending a class at Randall's Adventure & Training.

Hey guys I have a question. The Gear list says I need a suunto mc2. But there are different version. I also noticed that most of them don’t work in Canada ?Which one would work for the class, US and Canada ? Thanks

@Jeff Randall can verify but there there is a Global version, the Suunto MC2 G, that I think is the one you need...but you will need to verify that it works in your area...

Any compass that will work in the United States will work in Canada. Only thing "global" helps with is needle dip once you get south of the Equator. Suunto makes an MC2 and an MC2G (Global). Both are the same compass but the G model just has the global needle. I like Globals since they also work a little better if you're not holding your compass perfectly level in the United States.

Ok so He global is the better of them. Will I need any cards to help with the compass ? So no need to have the NH mc2? I bought both and a m3 NH.

    Thank you for the response.

Awesome. So those cards will help to convert the compass regardless of model? I’ll bring all of them and eat everyone ge.t a feel for them. Just waiting to see when the next class will be.

    Thanks again.
