I actually just used yellow mustard then I covered the darkened lines over with fingernail polish a little outside the lines and soaked it in vinegar. First one I've done
my esee 6 not a heavy mod nothing fancy but i love it. i know everyone is onto the crazy forced patina but maybe im old school I'd rather just let it happen naturally. it's actually a lot less work and happens faster than you'd think if you really USE it daily. it might not be as pretty right away but if you want a knife cuz it's pretty by a knife put it on the shelf so you can look at it then NEVER TOUCH IT KNIVES ARE SHARP!!! I've only had this one fora couple months so it's not really aged yet but it's getting there it's constantly changing and just getting better with no need to keep re applying.took some jasco to it the first day then just started use as normal.my use may be more than average though.I'm an electrician so i edc this knife and it gets used ALL DAY LONG. then when I'm not working i use it for everything else food prep hell even eat with it cuz it's sharper than any my kitchen knives. everyone talks about acidic veggies and mustard stuff like that but man i tell ya what MEAT...cut up a heart one day when i was done it had this crazy iridescent blue pretty awesome. blood really does an amazing job on 1095 cutting meat eating steak all that stuff. anyway a natural patina seems to be exponentially more durable. oh yah if you run it right that's actually 6' of parcord on the sheath.
Never seen that "UK Trailblazer..."patch before, I like it Hsve a better pic of it? Ans some more info please?
nice little set up man.you notice any difference one way or another with the coating? i strip my blade immediately just preference. but looking at them brand new the coating didn't look or feel like it could cause any perceivable hindrance.i just don't like it.just curious cuz most all i see are stripped.
Hi mate,I got gifted this esee4 only recently ,I'm not a big fan of coated blades but the coating doesn't seem to course any real issue ,not enough that I'll remove it .
