Pretty sure @kreeves has an AHBC in an earlier pic with rope on it....maybe he will chime in!

Breakdown of what I carried in my Kit Bag for today's hike (and most days):

    Map
    Bandana
    Emergency whistle
    Couple packets of Wet Fire
    Ballistol gun wipe
    Natrapel bug napalm
    Microfiber bag for wiping glasses
    Hammer Gel packet (emergency energy)
Ziploc w/gauze, couple bandaids, Benadryl and tweezers
Lightweight pair of backup reading glasses (the eyes aren't what they used to be...)

One of the reasons I recently upgraded to the Original 2.0 is the hook-and-loop/PALS panel on the middle pocket, allowing for customized organization. Right now, I just have a Maxped organizer with SAK Farmer, Streamlight AAA, lighter in an Exotac sheath with a few ranger bands, spare mag:

and the defenses - Sig .40 S&W and bear spray:

Funny thing - as I was hiking up the trail today, which even on the weekend is not a busy trail, there was a guy coming down the trail with same Kit Bag. We commented on each other's superior taste in gear...;)

There's so many times when I'm headed out on a hike and all I really need is a few minimal items in a Kit Bag.....but I also need to carry water and maybe a lightweight shell. And I don't want to lug a backpack just to carry those two things.

Enter the Recon Harness. The RH replaces the mesh harness on the Kit Bag with a thin hydration sleeve that has a PALS ladder and shock cord on the back. You can add it to a Kit Bag in a minute. Perfect for carrying a liter and a half of water and a layer. It greatly expands the usefulness of a Kit Bag when a backpack would be overkill. Especially the more minimal Kit Bags like the Runner's Harness. I've currently got mine set up with a HPG Med. Pocket, which is perfect for a little 1st Aid Kit and some snacks, and doesn't interfere with strapping a rain jacket below. This is a pretty inexpensive piece of gear from HPG that works great.

I just got an HPG Tool Roll. Thanks 5Col!
Right now it's holding my snacks. Capri-Sun, Cliff Bars and Skittles.

Just spent three days in the mountains with an Umlindi paired with the Recon Belt and an Original Kit Bag V2.

This was my first multi-day trip with the Umlindi, and it really carried the weight like a dream. It's honestly one of the most comfortable packs I've ever worn, and I've worn a few.

    More here.

A month with the Recon Harness, and I gotta say I really love this piece of gear. It takes my Kit Bag to the next level and has become the ideal minimalist day hike setup for me.

HPG was well represented at yesterday's training. Out of 17 SAR members, about half of them were wearing some version of HPG chest rig.

Did a waterfall hike yesterday with my Heavy Recon, didn’t get pics but I am impressed how this thing rides every time I wear it.
