A takedown gives you options for what limbs/weight you want to use. One set for hunting and another set for 3D tournaments. You really don't want to be using the heavier weights as for hunting in a 3D shoot because you will wear out fast from all the needed shooting of a tournament.

Gotcha so about a month ago I bought a recurve at an antique shop with the colt firarms logo. I’m a colt fan and got a good price. It needs a new string and odds are it will just be a collector piece hanging in my den. A few years back I bought a compound bow. I hadn’t shot since middle school and when my parents moved the three away all my stuff. I decided I wanted to get back into archery and at Christmas bought a bear cruzer. We started getting ready to move the farm so I didn’t shoot until I brought that colt bow home. The compound is nice but before that I only shot a recurve or longbow. I think I’ll get back into traditional archery. I might save up for the takedown. Thank you!

Friend of mine made bowstrings, if he's still making them he could make you a new one. Not sure what he would charge though, let me know if you want me to look into it.

That's pretty awesome. I guess it must hold up well. Snake skin is rediculously tough.

A vid I made from two years back at the Chamberlain Shoot. Plenty of MtnFolkMike and his family in here along with Caleb of Angler Knives, Damien of First Peoples Tools and Brian of Sargent Edged Tools plus many other great peeps.
