Not Sure, sometimes a small change is all that's needed for a tool to fit you better. I myself love a contoured G10 handle,I have found that the tiger-stripe handles are a lot "grippier" than the solid G10 handles.
Mudman, getting something different seems like a good enough reason ;)
Black5, a familiar tool ,as long as it's a good tool, is very comforting. One reason to try different is to make sure your knife skills will work with different knives instead of just your preferred blade.
Warrior, that was the first thing I noticed about the bk9,it was so weirdly light, yet functions so well. I replaced the issue handles with micarta and stainless bolts and locknuts. Made a big difference in how it felt in my hand.

Do people here see the Esee 6 as an "all around" knife,or maybe it's a specific use? If I go to invest a $100 + I want something that's pretty versatile...

To me, the 6 is a great all rounder. The best chopper? No, but it can do it good enough. You have to hold it, to understand. Then, of course, when you use it, you'll understand even more. If you don't like it, you won't have any problem selling it.

Warrior,I am pretty sold on buying an Esee 6,probably won't happen until September, too many projects I need to finish up. I like my bk9 and it has always performed above it's size, but it's a long way from compact. My esee 4 is compact, but doesn't have the length for me to comfortably split wood,or do light chopping. I'm hoping the esee 6 will do these things easily. :)

i have a E-4, E-6, Candiru, Junglas and an AH-1 Arrowhead. i love them all. the 6 is the one i grab when im traveling because its large enough to do many tasks. I had wanted the E-5 but i dont really like the saber grind for my needs, but i can definitely see how others would be attracted to it. the E-4 is good for bushcraft and for smaller tasks.

my advice is get the E-6 and pimp it out with some sheath bling.

Yeah not sure what I’d do without my 6 even though my Junglas-2 is surpassing it. Everybody needs one

I'm seriously considering a Junglas 2, but 1 thing that I know the 6 has over a J2 is concealablity.
Don't believe me just ask @Theo about Daytona bike week

I’ll have to stick my Junglas-2 in my cowboy boot. The Esee-6 fits nicely.

I just ordered a new BLACK 6 with ORANGE scales from TKC. Sorry @STPNWLF. Couldn’t help myself for what I paid.

I've got a set of factory canvas micarta scales and BLACK sheath with molle back/pouch that'd take care of that for you ;)

Oh no no. I’m an orange fan. I do however already have a black leather sheath for it as well as a black kydex one. I only use the 6 as a camp knife so for me the orange is my way of not losing things.

P4121438.JPG P4121423.JPG For years I looked at the 6 wanting one but never buying one. This past Christmas I put it on my list and the wife bought it for me. I love it. I always liked the 4 but only after I put TKC handles on it. Imho the 6 is perfect as is , except for sheath. I have a lot of knives from other companies but the 6 has honestly moved up to one of my favorites to use. I'm pretty sure I posted these some place else but no new pictures.
