I've been on the fence for a Swiss Army Farmer for a few years now. But can't see how it would be any better than my SA Hunter. But they look so nice.

I got several pics from the process. I’ll make a new thread on it on lunch break.

Bah. Got called away on a trip to a funeral. So I ain’t got the pics and what all with me. Long story short. I took a Leatherman Wave. Dissembled it.

Selected the handle with the 1”-4” markings of the 8” ruler that is formed by both handles. But paired it with the bolster from the other handle, as it had a hidden sliding lanyard ring.

Loaded the straight edge and the saw into the handle used in this build (normally the saw and serrated edge are in one handle and the straight edge and file are in the other). Both lock in a liner lock sort of fashion, as well as the knife blade being one hand opening.

Then bought the full 3D Phillips head from a Leatherman Rebar online. That is a drop in replacement to the (in my opinion, quite subpar) flat bit holder thing in the Wave. Of course I opted to pair it with a bottle/can opener in the locking end of the inside tools. Duh.

Anyways, that is the point at which you see it. It has seen steady work for the last month of two in everyday carry. (Btw, the screw post at the head end of the tool are like 1/32” thicker than the bottom. Otherwise I would have put the left over inside tools at that end. I also ruined said extra tools trying to ream them out to fit.)

I, of course, want to get someone to custom machine me an appropriately sized bushing to fill the space that the pliers head previously occupied, which would enable me to tighten it all the way down and use some blue lock tight on the Chicago screws.

Now, if any of y’all have a gifting of machinist with a good metal lathe, I would be interested in trading a Tuff Possum Gear pouch or whatever for a bushing or three made out of mild steel to my specs.

Cool. I've got a Safari and your post inspired me to dust it off and put it back in service. It's a nice pen.
