They tend to require a little more maintenance than more modern pistol designs and tend to be more susceptible malfunctions with poor cleaning habits but can be a good carry choice IMO. I like shooting them but carry a Glock normally. This one I bought for myself when I finished paying alimony . I’d like to get a Bear monolith heavyweight...
They're one of my favorite pistols. But they're not for everybody. If you think you'd like one, try a couple of them. I have Springfields, but a lot of makers offer good one's in your price range.
Agreed I used to be a recover guy because my grandfather was. Then I help my first 1911, the heavens opened and the angels sang. It’s like that pistol was designed with my hand in mind. Haven’t met one I didn’t like since...
Been an old school 1911 fan for a long time, it’s nothing fancy but has several thousand rounds through it and will eat anything.
Thanks. I’ve never shot it, just maintained how I found it. Family passed down, but no one in my family took it to war, not sure how we got it.
Everyone I know that has one says the same. One of my friends had a problem with his. Sent it off (on RIA’s dime). Came back in a week and never had a problem since.
Nothing at all wrong with something other than a Glock, I was always partial to STEEL S&W autos, it was more a comment on the nickel coating of that SIG...
One important thing to remember about those Sigs is that they aren’t compatible with normal 1911 holsters, and several parts are non-standard too.
