Yeah, I watched it too. I had pretty low expectations because of everything I'd heard. It's not bad. Its certainly somewhere in my top 5 modern urban fantasy buddy cop movies. The guy who played Jakoby did a good job, and the guy who played Will Smith was very good at being Will Smith. Though I agree with Zeek, it would make a more interesting miniseries. Preferably staring centaur cop
It is like the took Skyrim and Grand Theft Auto and smashed them together into a movie. Then they sprinkled in some of The Fifth Element and Harry Potter. I liked it.
My wife and I really enjoyed Bright. I likes the story. Seems like a great idea for a miniseries. I play D&D so it makes sense that I like it.
If you have Amazon Prime there's a series much like Netflix's Black Mirror, it's called Phillip K. Dick's Electric Dreams.
How is black mirror? I hear good things, but after watching the trailer I still can't get excited about starting it. Anyone have something to compare it to?
Anyone tried watching Godless? It's supposed to be some kind of western, but I wasn't sure about it after reading the intro. A town populated only with women? How the heck would that work? Maybe it gives new meaning to the "wild, wild west"???? :O
It's like a bunch of pulpy Asimov shorts, except they are mostly set in the current near future, and done very well.
I started watching Black Mirror.... it's different and I struggle to call it "entertainment" but worth watching.....
Loved Godless! I would also recommend Ozark, Punisher, Travelers, the list goes on. I think I watch more Netflix than I watch cable now...
Don't know if anyone has mentioned Sandcastle - a great movie (not a show) about the CIMIC side of the current ME conflict. Well worth the time to watch. Punisher and Longmire are two of my all-time favorites!!!
We have been watching Black Mirror and we like it a lot. Not every episode has been a winner but they are good. It reminds me of the old Twilight Zone episodes.
I've been rewatching seasons 1 and 2 of The Last Kingdom for the last few weeks in anticipation of the announcement of season three. (So far, the producers have still not announced as of today (visited a web page dated TODAY) whether they will produce season 3 or cancel the show. I vote for season 3; good place to end lest they leave some details dangling.) But today I stumbled on one of those youtube videos of the top N (6 or 7) films that you should watch that were underrated. I'll pass on all but one -- the last one reviewed. Now I've watched the trailers (several) and am already hooked. I'm going to start watching it tonight, and take a break from Uhtred and team.
It's one of those movies that has a good trailer. The movie isn't very good. I guess there aren't very many better movies in that setting that you havn't already seen though. The HBO series Rome was good, you might like to try that.
