I like Walthers, they are great as long as you don't want to change anything. Less holster options too.

Sig p229 police trade in for 400... lol, I don't have a ton of trigger time with those choices but a p320 is on my short list, I love the ability to change grip, slide and caliber.

Would be better the other way around. G17 slide on a 19 grip.

    How about a G22 slide on a G27ish frame?

saw a site listing the new Ruger Security 9 for $289 today.
not sure if that was RTD or pre-order, though.
otherwise, I'd vote for a police surplus 229 or CZ compact.

If I didn’t have any of them and had to buy all new holsters, mags, etc., I would still probably go with a GLOCK because it’s the most well supported with holsters, magazines and parts.

The M&P 2.0 and the HK VP9 would be strong contenders, but I like that I can disassemble and service a GLOCK myself and nearly every armorer and gunsmith has parts and a basic working knowledge of them if I can’t service them myself for some reason.

They work, they are relatively inexpensive, and are very serviceable for 90% of people. At $398, it’s very hard not to see it as a pretty solid benchmark.

(For what it’s worth, I’m partial to the Gen3 23 with the “frying pan finish” as you would find in the G and H serial ranges, a GLOCK 17 trigger bar, minus marked connector, the extended slide release, intermediate magazine release, with finger grooves removed and frame stippled. The GLOCK 19 Gen5 comes as close to that out of the box as you can get but in 9mm.)

P320 C all day or any Sig that fits your needs. Sig and HK are my two favorites. Lots of good options. I love my VP9 as well. P30 is the hammered version. Both are excellent. I don’t like Glocks. Good guns, just don’t like them. The M&P are good guns, but I don’t like the palm safety. I had a Shield for a while and it was excellent. Now I want the new Sig P365.
