I caught this on auction earlier in the fall. I'm a shameless whore for anything BHK or LTW. I'm signed up for the next July's field survival and thinking about taking it along. IMG_20171217_221700901.jpg IMG_20171217_221457130.jpg

Why don't we see more Beckers here?
Too similar to the Esee lineup?
My BK7 needs some love and attention.
It seems to rain here just about every free hour I have...
And my motivation to stay outside suffers in wet conditions :(

    Yes, and no.
I had an old liner lock with an unusable blade.
I reshaped the liners, used the pivot and spacers, made the scales and blade.
Shape, blade, and scales are mine.

    ****1000th post!****
    :D

Here's two very similarly styled blades, with rather different features. Two of my favorite "sidearm" belt knives for when I go scouting alone in mountain lion territory.

BRKT Teddy 2 with hand sanded and polished green canvas, wearing a hot waxed (pure bees wax) sheath. Makes the leather rock solid, and completely waterproofs it. Perfect for the Temperate Rainforest I call home. 6.5mm thick A-2 steel with a false swedge, deep fuller and zero ground convex grind.

Next to it is my favorite Buck, the 124. Again with hand sanded and polished black micarta, in my own hand made heavy leather sheath (also waterproof). 4mm thick 420HC steel with a true, albeit small and unsharpened swedge, and a deep hollow grind.

I've found myself really enjoying these sorts of blades over the past year or so.

I know the earlier run of the new production 124 were really square, but these later ones (2016 onward) seem to be better. It still has a square profile, but I don't find it uncomfortable.
