@STPNWLF your truck looks great and I love the work you put into it, to keep it going and looking fine.
I love old and well maintained cars, they are much more pleasing to the eye and soul than the newer, plastic ones.

Sorry the elk cow is a little blurry. Lighting wasn't too good. And i was way too close, but not by choice. Came around a curve and there she was.

Hiked in the northern Tetons today.

We had climbed in search of giant balls.

Get yer head out the gutter. I'm talking about giant fossilized algae balls.

And lo and behold, at 9,255' there they were:

"Distinctive features of Cambrian rocks. Algal heads in the Park Shale Member of the Gros Ventre Formation. These calcareous mounds were built by algae growing in shallow sea in Cambrian time. They are now exposed on the divide between North and South Leigh Creeks, nearly 2 miles above sea level!" Source

After some quality time spent among the ancient algae, it was time to gain the ridge and summit the nearest peak:

puts the world into perspective , doesnt it?

2 miles above current sea level......was ocean...........

we get similar stuff in Lytton BC......like 15,000' about sea level.....is the BOTTOM of the of the old ocean.

just mind boggling thinking about it

No kidding. It's pretty rad. On a backpacking trip in the same range last year we came across big chunks of fossilized coral, just laying out in the open, at 10,000'. Hard to wrap my brain around that.

There's not much in the way of electricals on this one other than the ignition and lights. It's mostly to keep water from getting into the air box.
