FE159306-AB96-4F31-A380-9F367C5AD04C.jpeg Grapes were on sale so i of course bought a few bags. Then what to do with them?

Make preserves! Cooking down the grapes with an apple to add pectin. Once done ill strain out the skins and seeds and add equalish parts of sugar cook it up and can it.

    Learn something. Do something.

For those that do not can food. Jelly is made with fruit juice and is fairly stiff, Think Apple jelly or Grape jelly. Jam is made with crushed fruit or fruit pulp and is less stiff than jelly (Strawberry, Raspberry or Gooseberry) and preserves are made with fruit chunks and is either a syrup or a gel. Marmalade is considered a type of preserve.

I see. I just add mine to the pot and start the process without the puree.

Anyone ever use a "food mill" to get rid of seeds and skins? Recipe i used called for one and i skipped it and used a human squish through a strainer mill.

We use an attachment on the KitchenAide mixer to remove the skins for Apple butter and Pear butter and when we make tomato sauce . The rest of the time we do not bother with the seeds in berries, they give the jam some extra "character" By the time you remove all the seeds you basically making jelly.
