The title says it all! Pretty much want to see what you're practicing, what you've made, or what you've come up with. Traditional deadfalls to unconventional snares. Modern MacGyvered traps to old styled fish catches. Let's see em all! (As long as it's one you've made)

(Know the legality of trapping/snaring in your area. In many places it may be illegal for you to trap/snare/catch animals in primitve/homemade traps.)

I'll get the ball rolling with a couple I taught this last weekend

Live catch net trap invinted by my friend Mike Lowe (former AF SERE instructor). The engine is paracord on each end of the bow twisted around the center post, thus creating a "slamming" motion when triggered IMG_7008.JPG IMG_7010.JPG IMG_7012.JPG

Super simple trap shown to me by my friend Donny Dust (primitve skills expert) called a pebble deadfall. Post stick is intended to be balanced on a round pebble, but as there was a lack of round rocks in this area my friend Chad Keel came up with the idea to use a bit of wood. Thus the rolling stick deadfall was born.

And lastly had some practice with the traditional Paiute Deadfall (used yucca cordage on this example). This one is a little larger than I like but was built for demonstration purposes, and still works great IMG_6998.JPG

Can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Here is another trap I built with my friend Mike Lowe. It's essential an arapuca bird trap with a non-cordage dependent trigger system. IMG_7045.JPG IMG_7046.JPG

I have a bird at work that just attacks the window all damn day. I’ve tried putting a fake owl outside and even printed some big photos of owls and stuck them on the window to try and deter him. None of that worked, so now he must die.

Yeah, I was looking for a thread on traps and snares and couldn't find one. Makes sense there was one on the old forum. Had to start this one up and am really excited to see what folks come up with.

This is an oversized Paiute Deadfall I built to demo for some folks. It actually moved pretty quick for its size. Usually I'll make them smaller though. IMG_7049.jpg

Sadly no. I took the trap down after a couple hours because one of the guys in the office got upset. The bird is still there smashing his face into the window to this day. No joke.

I taught my 6 year old daughter how to build a figure 4, she is always trying to trap rabbits and squirrels, not that I would use that for either of those (don't tell her) but it was a good carving project for her.
