I think this will be a big improvement over the conventional spring clip.

I'm for the 45 deg. option too.

I know these are prototypes but if I can make a suggestion on the plate that contains the clip. Please move it as high as possible on the plate you have and round the corners as much as possible on the bottom where it protrudes.

That will make it as comfortable as possible and not wear a person's jeans. I did something similar using the spring plate for an Izula which I wear at 10 o'clock or so, on my weak side. I turned the plate to a little less than 45 deg and drilled holes through for the hardware.

It didn't take long sitting realize the corners needed to be rounded as much as possible, that is a surprisingly tender area.

Very cool idea. Glad to see it will still be fairly thin, that is one of the reasons I actually like the standard clip

Long way to go until finished design. Plan on adding two more holes on the top plate that are 22.5 degrees off from existing holes and that will give the user 22.5 degree adjustment in any position.

Decided against the 22.5* hole due to countersink diameter. This is the final prototype and from here it will go to Rowen and they will make slight mods and do a SolidWorks file. We are thinking about doing two radial slots in the master plate (0 to 90 and a second one at 180-270). That way any angle desired is achievable. Still some testing to do on that though. Cody will build the SolidWorks file then do some printed models for final approval before building molds. With this current configuration it is extremely strong (you cannot rip the clip out without destroying the whole thing), it adjusts vertical, horizontal and at 45*, and the profile is thin enough and it uses all existing hardware (so no new hardware to have made.) The bolt hole pattern is set to 1.5" so the top plate will most likely work with other attachments since 1.5 seems to be a standard.

Hey, that looks great...maybe even sexy.

I like how you removed the upper slot on the rotator plate.

I can easily see these being mounted on a host of things in various ways. Versatility with out complexity or fragility.

This is a single plate that will work left, right, horizontal or vertical with existing steel clip and mounting hardware. The wider platform is really secure. Screws need to have a countersink. Just failed to do it on this prototype.

    Here and there...
@Jeff Randall I really like this design. I’ve had problems in the past with the width and stability of the current clip plates and I think this would solve those issues... I would prefer this one over the last one you posted esp if it uses all your existing hardware like the other one.

Would it be possible to do a version that has a belt loop instead of a clip?

Or even some type of locking clip?

    Clips always fail me :/

When I first read the title of the thread I really thought it was related to Bruce Dickinson music project from 1996.

This is awesome! Fantastic idea. I prefer a crossdarw and the option for horizontal or 45 is AMAVING! seriously though fantastic.

None so far. Working on molds now for a new knife we are introducing first of the year, so hope to get working on the clip plate molds after that is finished.

Jeff, I think your problem is you guys just have too many awesome ideas.... You need to either hire more people or fire the guy responsible for all the great ideas you guys are pumping out...;)

Would there be a possibility of a longer clip plate for the esee 3/4 that comes on the 5/6/ls?
