    So I don’t want a Lensatic compass and I want the MC-2... also it looks like everyone needs less coffee...

    @Jeff Randall
    Can you please explain a little about the different Suunto MC-2 models?
    I see that your training website sells 4 different models.
    If I don’t plan to use it outside the US is the Global that much better to have?
    Which scale is easier to use? Inch or metric ( I think that means USGS vs CM? )
    Thanks!

    I have the simple Suunto A10 and while I am not proficient with a compass, from the recent usage it got - it is an accurate piece of kit!
    It is a great backup/checker for a handheld GPS.

    If you are only using it in the US then a Northern Hemisphere needle is really all you need. That said, a global needle does allow you to be a little less level with your compass in the NH and it still work fine. I like the metric scale the best (since everything we do in land nav is metric) but either is fine to me since I don't use the scales on the actual compass, instead I use a grid reader.

    @Strigidae

    Im just confused...

    If I compare the slide show to the Suunto website it looks like the model used is the

    SS004242001 SUUNTO MC-2/360/D/CM/IN/NH Compass

    If the ESEE folks normally just use the SS004242001 the NH vs a Global compass that is enough for me to just order the NH version. I’m just trying to find the most recommended version in case I can make it to a Land Nav course with the ESEE folks

    Go for the Suunto MC2-G global model in degrees (360) in metric, best compass on the market!

    The top one is the one I think you means. The bottom one is one that seems to have a closer label but only for the NH.
