Mine came with an arb bullbar I bought at the time, a friend has one of the kings ones and it is rather large but seems to be doing fine so far. The arb compressors are pretty good to strig but cost a motsa
Id love the on board arb for future lockers and air ups. However the budget calls for harbor freight cheap air compressor and a stick to regular trails. Someday. This slow gathering and building up is a lot of fun. Not as much fun as solving how to thread a 4runner though an atv sized hole between two trees or how to straddle a 3' washout.
The Slime brand compressor I have was less than $40 and came with a tire plug kit (the tools were weak junk) and some other stuff in a carrying case. I bought it because I was tires of swapping my Viair setup between three vehicles. I expected it to last a few months until I could buy another Viair setup to dedicate to my wife's car. Surprisingly it's lasted for a long time with regular and sometimes heavy use. It has seen more use than the "good" one over the last few years. Looking online this week there are several known brands that have versions in the sub $50 price range. I can't imagine that there are a multitude of factories out there putting out small compressors so it's likey that you can find a good deal on an unbranded or rebranded quality one with a little looking. The only thing I recommend is making sure that whatever you get allows for attaching straight to the battery via clips. The ones solely powered through a cigarette lighter/power point don't seem to last as long or (obviously) perform as well. Also, buy good plug tools and put together a kit yourself or go with one like ARB amd others offer. The cheaper ones seem to break at the worst times and I've seen folks injure themselves when the plastic handles shatter or the shaft breaks and the force intended to put the plug in instead drives their hand into solid, and often sharp, parts of the car.
We did go with the arb plug kit. Got the best reviews and nothing else seemed even close to the quality. Ill check into the slime or look alike brand. Thanks!
Glamping or Overland? Ha! My "overland" vehicle and trailer enable me to get further into the backcountry.... .... to remote spots where I set up a base camp for more than a couple of days..... ....and then go on long exploratory hikes to see interesting things The truck has an on-board air compressor, dual batteries with solar charging, sliders, skid plate, better suspension with increased ride height and a heavy duty roof rack. the trailer has a 20 gallon water tank, solar charged battery, full suspensionand a good sized cargo compartment
It is glamping for sure. But who cares. Its a lot of fun to 4wheel and camp and do day hikes. You are right that it does extend the range of adventure fun.
