Nice. I read that there was a derailment and I thought there must have been a bunch of kids on the train;)

    Overall, what did you think?

It derailed the evening before we boarded. They had it cleared about 4AM on the day we rode. Talked to one of the employees and they said the heat on the narrow gauge tracks causes them to widen a bit and it will derail sometimes. Tracks are 36" wide compared to the 4+ feet of normal tracks.

Awesome ride. Will do it again. We were on the "no kids allowed" car so it was a pleasant trip.

As far as Durango goes, I really don't care for that town. Reminds me of a little Asheville, NC.

I do not remember much but surely the beer and the street musicians are not as bad as Ashville! We were there about a month ago. They claimed Ashville to be weird, yet everyone there seemed exactly alike.

This what the line I was waiting for. Had it been "will never do again" I'd mark it off the list.

    Thanks for the update, Jeff!

Make sure you get an open car if you do the ride. Way more photo ops on the open car. Of course you will have coal cinder all over your clothes after it's over with but worth it for the extra room you have to take pics.
