The latest offering from Expat® Knives is here. The Libertariat is a super light machete made to carry with you on your hike, coconut gathering or brush clearing adventures without taking up too much space. It also works very well in the kitchen slicing roast beef or large pork shoulders. It is based on the latin american cacao or coconut knives that are used and abused in food gathering and prep. Where the cleaver is one big hunk of steel, this is thin, lightweight and cheap! Final price will be somewhere around $50 for it so go ahead and chop away. It is made in El Salvador, where they know a thing or too about machetes. It's also where Jeff and I spent some time a few years ago bumming around the country, which led to some pretty good stories involving earthquakes, MS-13, and the national beer company's official model.... We landed in San Salvador not knowing a soul and ended up being invited to be the official photographers of the Minister of Tourism 5 days later. I'll share some of those stories another time. I got very busy talking with everyone today and didn't get too many pics. I'll get some more and write up on it in my predictably superfluous and aggrandizingly garrulous style. Feedback was excellent on the blade. We need to get a few out in y'alls hands to test it. Get there early tomorrow if you can. I'm bringing Dunkin Donuts. More pics and info to come....
It's free country again so do whatever you want. But the Libertariat will probably be out before the PR4.
Notice I said "acquire"... I'm gonna offer DJ Jr. a large sum of money to snatch and grab it from the booth tomorrow. However, that's good news on the Libertariat. What's the overall length?
Why offer DJ jr the money? I'll do it for half! Not sure on the specs. I will post all of that info tomorrow. We don't even have a sales sheet on it yet.
It's not made in Idaho. I'm not sure anyone will recognize a cutout of El Salvador. Heck, I have to explain over and over why the cleaver hole, "looks like Idaho"?!? Uh, cause it IS Idaho.
