We are watching videos on new zealand. Looks to be a winner but the wife is a bit resistant to fly that long. Gonna take a bit to get that kind of armenian dollars to get off the ground so we have time to change our mind. Some trip will happen. Just not sure where.

If y'all decide to go to NZ then I will hook you up with someone who can make sure you hit the right spots.

I have gone thru serious wanderlust most of my life, I finally became a hermit at 42.
I am however going to the UK for a wedding next year and I still do a lot of hiking and backpacking although I am dealing with a knee injury at the moment and I am not allowed to hike.
My wanderlust stopped when I turned 42, I was bow hunting and got a tick on me and ended up with a pathogen that almost killed me, I was sick for 3 years, kidney shut down, lost jaw teeth leg died for a few months with no movement.
It all finally ended last April when my wife found me in a coma on the bathroom floor one morning.
I was in Diabetic Ketoacidosis and my sugar I would later be told a few days later after waking up hit 1363.
I woke up at 44 with Type 1 Diabetes, my final gift from that stupid tick.
I was told it was probably Lyme although I never tested positive for, the Lyme literate doctor who diagnosed me said that ticks have pathogens they haven't even identified yet.
I have not traveled much since but I plan on retiring at 59.5 and my first order of business is to thru hike the AT if possible.
I am insulin dependent on a pump and I have to figure out the logistics of taking on such an endeavor given my disease..
Prior to this I was down for any adventure that popped up, I haven't hunted since but I am going to gun hunt this year but my bow hunting days are probably over..

I have barely left Georgia much less the Southeast United States... I don't think I'll ever need a passport but one of these days I would like to travel my own country by car/truck, no interstates just me the wife and the dog with a pocket full of money.

Wife and i take the weirdest vacations. One year our vacation was field survival. Seriously.

This year it will be field survival intensive and later in the fall someplace usa.

Mtngoat itll be fall to winter before we can take more time off. Hows that fit for your schedule and local events hikes? Nothing set in stone yet so dont sweat it.

I want to move to a small island in the Caribbean. Use my knives to beat on coconuts, open shellfish and fillet the days catch. Maybe baton some wood on the beach to cook this fine meal. Seriously this is my not so distant plan.

My wife and I have hiked/camped in about every state except Washington and Alaska, spent some time in Canada, Mexico and Central America, and have been to Dollywood several times. My pick for the absolute best place to go is the Tri-State region right here where I live. You have about anything you could want: mountains, flatlands, cliffs, rivers, swampy areas, gang activity, affluenza, poverty, caverns and clean lakes.

Man, I completely missed this thread.

Strig, you two are always welcome out here. We have mountains and are quite close to many more.
